February 26, 201214 yr Does anybody know why or how to fin the speed tape problem? I can be on the ground in preflight and its at 45 knots but GS reads 0. My GS is always correct and even landing and slowing on the runway it never goes below 45K on the HUD either. Anybody know why??Thanks,Jon Jonathan Oakes KPHX (KMSP)
February 26, 201214 yr It's supposed to read 45kts, nothing wrong with it Kenneth Weir My Saitek yoke mod i7 2600k @ 4.7 8GB Gskill CAS7 2x GTX580 SLI Surround + GT520 Accessory Win7x64
February 26, 201214 yr Hi Jon,This is normal indication for the IAS speed tape. Your system is indicating correctly, the IAS indication is so unreliable at lower speeds it does not give readings below 45 Knts.Rgds,Dave Baggs. Dave Baggs. EGLL.
February 26, 201214 yr Commercial Member You'll note, cars sometimes show similar indications:You'll note the speedometer's lowest indication is 10MPH. Kyle Rodgers
February 27, 201214 yr Commercial Member Nope. The 7 is too big for me. I have a Z3 (I'm about to sell it) that I affectionately call either Perry or womancar because it's a lovely shade of periwinkle blue (wristflip included when I say it in person). Kyle Rodgers

February 27, 201214 yr Note : not good if you see 45 or less IAS in the air. Just sayinEricWhat? How do you come to that conclusion? I've always thought that would be a normal indication :LMAO:Just sayin Greetings from the 737 flightdeck!
February 27, 201214 yr well it is if you are doing hammerheads, you know :)turn off the yaw damper and try it !Eric
February 27, 201214 yr Does anyone know why it stays at 45? Would it be because it is unreliable anything lower? William Sequeira
February 27, 201214 yr Note : not good if you see 45 or less IAS in the air. Just sayinEricYeah, it means your stall warning doesn't work any more ;).Does anyone know why it stays at 45? Would it be because it is unreliable anything lower? In principle yes, though why it then displays 45 knots rather than just being empty I don't know. Couldn't find any information in the FCOMs John-Alan Pascoe
February 28, 201214 yr Don't look at the speed tape when you're taxiing on the ground, go by the ground speed, which shows as GSxx on the EHSI. Even on the old prop planes, when they take off down the runway, the FO will call out "Airspeed alive!" when the speed needle starts moving. Robert Yunque
