March 3, 201214 yr Agreed, both those items are essential to have in Flight.I myself desperately want to see Track IR support added. I mean seriously, when was the last time a flight sim came out, that did not have Track IR support in the initial release?I am having a lot of fun with Flight, but am very dissappointed in there not being support for Track IR in it. March 3, 201214 yr Is there some way to "hack" track ir into the game by using the mouse emulation feature?
March 3, 201214 yr I never bought TrackIR, mostly because the view system in FSX - which could be extended by 3PDs - was sufficient for me. I have been considering TrackIR because of other games, but never really felt the need until I was doing aerobatics in Flight.Flight not having TrackIR support, nor a proper view management system, nor an SDK to allow 3PDs to add one, creates a huge hole in any possible enjoyment of this game.
March 4, 201214 yr I want them to add more customization options for joysticks (null-zones and sensitivity settings etc). I know it can be done to a limited extent already by hand-tweaking the XML file, but it would still be nice to have it in the UI! March 4, 201214 yr Is there some way to "hack" track ir into the game by using the mouse emulation feature?I suspect it probably could be done, but doubt it would be quite the same or as good as native support.I am really enjoying playing around on the big island, enjoying the challenges as well, and most likely will go ahead and buy the rest of the islands. But for the future, before I go spending much more on this , not having Track IR support may be a deal breaker for me. The immersion factor, and my enjoyment, would go up dramatically for me if it had support for Track IR... Don B

March 4, 201214 yr Moderator How on earth did anyone ever fly before TrackIR was invented? “People don’t need an important issue to fight about. They’ll take anything available and inflate it to thesize they need.” (1634: The Ram Rebellion, p. 368)There sure seems to be quite a bit of that going on... :LMAO: Fr. March 4, 201214 yr Commercial Member People have used TIR in "mouse mode" and ised a key on the joystick to emulate the "press to look" function on the mouse. Its not 6DOF, but it should work. Kevin Miller 3D Artist and developer
March 4, 201214 yr Well I flew just fine using my hat1 as a pov prior, but well Track IR changed all that for me - without it now, it is like taking a major step back for me in my flying...Now I do not want to fly without it - I of course am in Flight, and am enjoying it, but could be enjoying it even more! March 4, 201214 yr Microsoft adds two things:1)Support for toe brakes2)Support for Track IRI'm fairly happy with everything else at the moment.Absolutely the most prolific and certain +1 ever! ...... I feel exactly the same. I kind of feel that I really like Flight but, am nevertheless not using it until these two issues are resolved.Toe breaks are being worked on for the first update push (time unknown)TrackIR? Don't hold your breath until more than 1/10th of 1% own TrackIR. Bill you do take a lot of opportunities to downplay TrackIR, and it is noted that you recently told how you were one of the extremely small minority who (i) got TrackIR, (ii) tried it, (iii) didn't like it (or didn't persist in adjusting to it), and (iv) don't use it any more ........Your very personal experience, and lack of enthusiam for it really doesn't mean it's "off the list" though does it?...........I am 100% sure it will come, and within 6 months, ready to eat my hat if that's not the case. And asking "how did people fly before TrackIR" is a moot point/question ....... The fact is our enjoyment was hugely increased by TIR and therefore we're surprised to see a new flight sim release that doesn't support it. It's a bit like saying ; "How did people eat before knives and forks" ....... but I bet you'd be a bit peeved if someone took all of the cutlery from your home !!?? March 4, 201214 yr Moderator Bill you do take a lot of opportunities to downplay TrackIR, and it is noted that you recently told how you were one of the extremely small minority who (i) got TrackIR, (ii) tried it, (iii) didn't like it (or didn't persist in adjusting to it), and (iv) don't use it any more ........Your very personal experience, and lack of enthusiam for it really doesn't mean it's "off the list" though does it?...........I am 100% sure it will come, and within 6 months, ready to eat my hat if that's not the case.I'm not the least bit trying to "downplay TrackIR." I'm simply trying to understand just why it seems to be such a pivotal reason for some folks to imply that Flight is somehow "useless" without it being currently operational.I do have it, I have used it, and I even like it! Unfortunately, wearing a hat indoors creeps me out, and my eyesight is so poor that I'm constantly having to move my head trying to see things on the screen, or I'll sneeze, or I'll cough......the next thing I know I'm staring at the bloody cockpit floor and have to quickly find and press the 'reset viewpoint' hotkey. Oops! I had to lean forward to find-and-press the key, now when I lean back a bit the view is all messed up again...Having spent several hours trying to get it calibrated correctly, it still just never grew on me like I'd hoped it would. It's still installed, the hat is on my flying desk, and I continue to try getting used to it.In the meantime though, I'm just not one to get too bothered about things I can't change, and that includes the lack of toe-brake support for my expensive pedals, or support for what I continue to hope is something I'll get used to.Since my wonderment seems to be another such point of contention, I'll say no more about TrackIR... :vava: Fr.
