final computer specs what do you think?(;

The SSD has nothing to do with the smooth running of your system or FSX. With a SSD you can only run your FS or OS faster not smoother.So, if it is OK for you to wait a bit longer while the FS is loading, do not take the SSD. My opinion is: Big SSD for FSX and OS or no SSD (save the money for airports for the NGX :( ).

will it be worth it? i mean i am ding to play with a new computer my specs currently are terrible, BTW should i change something from the specs? or it's very good and will run it with airports addon's? thanks again(:Hey. yes this is for FSX, and i don't know that what the computer technician recommended. by the way, is there any other processor currently on the market the someone of you recommend over the I5?
I just got the 2ng generation core i5 3.3ghz and very happy with it in terms of FSX performance, great value for money in my opinionGood luckCeri

SSD is going to give you faster load times, eliminate defragging, and potentially eliminate stutters that might happen as the result of disk access. It will not increase your framerate in the sim.If you do SSDs, you want to have everything you frequently use on them - so Windows itself for sure, and then FSX. If I were doing it I'd probably get two drives, one for the OS and one for FSX.

Hi Ryan,Any idea on the release date of the Ivy's and new Nvidias - I've had a little look around and it all seems to be rumour at the moment - I still havent got around to getting my new rig built yet and am really close - it would be rather typical that the day I order the parts is the day they announce the release date - also do you think its a good idea to get that right away - I have a bit of a philosophy in life - never buy the mk1 one (first gen) of anything!Cheers!

Looks good, but if you can stand to wait a couple more months there's new CPUs and GPUs coming. The Sandy Bridge and GTX 5 series generations are on their last legs right now. "Ivy Bridge" CPUs and the GTX 6 series will be the new stuff.
This is also something that had bothered me in my spec choices. Will ivy bridge really be that good when it first come out? Or should we wait for it for a while to see what the general consensus are in the FS community regarding it?I know the 2500K has had a great run and most people in FS concur that it's the CPU for FSX, just wondering if the IB needs this clarification as well?

Learning to use and getting use to FSX!

I bought an Alienware recently and the specs are great, but i still needed to tweak and find the right way to run FSX. I just want to make that clear for you
This is the honest thing to say, I agree completely. I have had this system (same as yours) for 8 months now and I remember the day I built it I thought I would never have to tweak again. I was wrong: I HAD to find a good compromise (quite acceptable tbh), because it DID NOT run smooth with everything maxed. It's not to spoil your enthusiasm, but I think you should know.Andrea

June is what I'm seeing on the hardware site.

Ivy Bridge is just the next gen i7, still the same core architecture as the current ones, but faster - I'm sure it's going to be better than the current generation. The big change is the 3D transistor construction, but that doesn't change the logic/architecture of how it processes data. I'm gonna get one myself when they're released, so I'm sure you'll hear about it here.

is that a big deal? cause as someone above said if I don't buy SSD's i can invest that money in other addon's and stuff, thanks again your help really is appreciate.

I learnt this the hard way. Spent a lot of mney on a top end system(i7 2600k, gtx 580 etc) and was expecting to just run everything and have no problems. WRONG ON EVERY LEVEL. I ended up taking it back because I was so annoyed. ORBX YBBN is a shocker. That crippled my system down to around 8fps. Abnd that was with a lot of options unchecked and modest fsx settings.

It's funny how FSX never actually appears to get any faster! I have used FS since the beginning and it hasn't got that much quicker since 1995 really. The truth is we just throw more at it and expect higher spec machines to cope.I am now on a 2700k running at 4.8GHz with a 580GTX and run REX2 and MyTraffic2010 and have most settings maxed out BUT still had a problem running the Tutorial 2 at LOWI yesterday when everything slowed to around 10fps for a moment on landing - the rest of the time I get 30fps though which is good I guess.My advice is always to get the fastest machine you can at the time and then ignore all comments about any new technology for at least 18 mths as you will only be sorry when you see that Intel have just bought out a faster or newer CPU. I am for once happy with my machine though and intend to enjoy it without spending all my days trying to tweak someting!Roll on PMDG777 too as this is going to be the only other investment for me over the next year or two !!!
