April 10, 201214 yr Hi there, First let me Thank you for ths Great Information. I Started an circular flight around the isles to get the "landed at all Airports" Award. Eventually i Decided to do it by vor navigation after Finishing the Most Western Island. I found that the radials at some Airports were Not correct but it could well be, that i did a mistake, so i Thought i will Post the radials that seem to work (After landing i just turned at the ob knob until the Lines were centered). Maybe someone could Check wich radials are correct. If i am wrong please Tell me and forget it ;) if i am Not wrong the Informations are Maybe helpful. Oahu Airport Code - vor - radial - vor2 - radial2 PHJR - h - 258 - k - 266 Molokai Hi49 - k - 095 - m - 267 The folliwing two were Not listed Since they are Not active. I landed there Anyway Phnp - h - 320 - k - 282 Xbel - h - 067 - k - 343 Tomorrow i will Continue my Journey. If i find any other radials that do Not fit, i will Post them here. Greetings Jazznow

April 11, 201214 yr Thanks! I was actually in the midst of making something like this. I usually use my kindle next to me so I dont have to press M. Has anyone made a list of all the runways? I tried making something like it but failed.
April 11, 201214 yr usually use my kindle next to me so I dont have to press M. Hey can you elaborate on this a little? I have a Kindle Fire my wife got me for Christmas, using it mainly for reading books. Are you saying I might can use it for the Map rather than needing to access it via pressing M? Btw - welcome to the forums! Great community here! Don B

Are you saying I might can use it for the Map rather than needing to access it via pressing M? Btw - welcome to the forums! Great community here! I've been looking online and trying to create a PDF that I can use on my kindle to reference instead of pressing M. So in short, yes, you can use your kindle (I've read people use their smartphones/iPads) in lieu of pressing M. I actually found one on this forum (not this particular thread) but I have the smaller kindle so I needed to make the font bigger but with no luck. I tried a few other PDFs people have posted on this thread but they don't have a runway list which is really what I'm looking for. If you find or know how to edit PDFs, let me know.
April 11, 201214 yr Ok thanks I will keep my eyes open - don't know much about editing pdf's though. Thanks, Don B
April 11, 201214 yr Ok thanks I will keep my eyes open - don't know much about editing pdf's though. Thanks, Same here. I'm gonna wait a few more days to see if anyone has any good runway list PDFs. If not, I'll probably make one this weekend
April 12, 201214 yr Many thanks to everyone for posting so much useful information in this thread, particularly the VOR data and articles. I've spent almost all of my FS2004 time flying Wiley Post's Lockheed Vega, so VOR has always been an intimidating enigma to me. That amazing Sarangam article cleared all that up in about ten minutes - a simple concept, simply explained. That's a really fine piece of writing. I'm looking forward to using VOR in Flight now. - Peter C http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Bob_and_Ray_Show
April 14, 201214 yr I found out http://www.airnav.com/airports/ is also a good source for getting somewhere using VORs: on the pages of most airports you will find the nearby VORs which can lead you to them, including radials (for triangulation) but also including distances, so you don't have to use triangulation at all or you can use the distances to check where you are while still using triangulation. I post this here because some of the triangulations provided in this topic are a bit hard to use: triangulation works best when the used radials are something like 90 degrees apart, while some of the numbers posted here are almost opposing radials, making it pretty hard to find the airport, so I just found out. I tried to get to HI05 which should be at HILO 116.90 r 297 and UPOLO POINT 112.30 r 098. It's way easier to replace HILO with MUE 113.30 r 050. You can even simply fly on that r 050 until you are 20.2 nm out: that's where HI05 should be. (Or use the UPOLO r 099 and a distance of 20.5 nm or even HILO again, r 297, 35.2 nm or KONA r 038, 39.1 nm). Unfortunately the site doesn't show every airport that's available in MS Flight...
April 16, 201214 yr If anyone is interested, I've got some basic PDF's with some airport info. First is just a PDF formatted version, second is a PDF formatted for the Nook SimpleTouch. The only big error is the Hilo ASOS frequency (and on the SimpleTouch version a missing zero on one of the HNL ILS frequencies), but they'll be fixed in new versions eventually. Useful stuff included is Pattern altitude where available, right patterns noted, links to airport diagrams in the big one, and other relevant tidbits from AirNav. PDF: https://docs.google....UmY1YzlHZw/edit SimpleTouch PDF: https://docs.google....YnRhZnluZw/edit Say, AzureWX, where did you get all this information from? Your pdf, which I didn't really check out until now, contains information about airports I couldn't find on AirNav! Great pdf, btw, I just printed it!

Great pdf, btw, I just printed it! Google-Fu, mostly. Also, be aware that the nav instructions using the KOA VOR should be ignored. Flight has the old IAI VOR instead, and I didn't realize that before I made the original PDF.
