GSX or the... Erm, other one

Featured Replies

I've just got my hands on FSDT GSX and can honestly sat IMO it blows it's direct competitor well and truly out of the water. No aircraft configuration, no poor sound FX, far superior animations, no animations popping up out of thin air, one button assignment easily opens and closes the actions window, no window that pops up in your face as soon as the aircraft lands, no having to continually adjust the library position. All in all a really cracking addon that I can thoroughly recommend that will truly enhance anyone's experience of flying airliners when used alongside FS2Crew. Sorry to the competition, but having used it for some time now I became a little tired of all it's silly little idiosyncrasies. Nice one FSDT!

I agree Howard. I use ASE for Jetway only, and when departing from gate, I select F6 then F2 on the AES window, the gate moves away, then GSX does the rest. Also the support and updating is a plus. Umberto is always about to answer support questions.

I think the main part over AES is the not need to buy credits. So that competition on a number of features actually helped the customers. I'm happy to see GSX getting updates almost daily.

I totally agree Howard. I had AES a few months ago and uninstalled it as I couldn't stand all the European buses and equipment running around at LAX. Fortunately I only bought a few credits. Down in the AVSIM video section, Robert (gsm) produced an excellent video of how GSX works.Best regards,Jim

Thanks for the feedback, I had bookmarked that when it first came out and the early positive responses - just had not taken the plunge as of yet.I think that time has come...

Hi Jim, mmm, unfortunately I HAD bought quite a few credits and covered all my European airports. But I guess it's like most things in life, there is always something better that comes along sooner or later. In my case it just happened sooner and GSX came along shortly after I had finally purchased all my credits! :(

Howard, are you still using AES for the Jetways ? I have 176 credits invested in AES, so as I posted above, been using it soley for moving the jetways. Of course, that was only possiable once GSX included a config editor.

Hmm, to be honest Julian I just wanted to disable AES completely. Apart from some of AES's oddities, I wanted to minimise any possible chance of conflicts...

Ok. I think Umberto mentioned that GSX will handle jetways in a future version, so when that happens, I will remove AES.

Well, I hope they manage that on the big scale (jetways). Not going to be an easy task.

I'm also enjoying GSX, it is an excellent product. But I'm simultaneously still enjoying AES, as I've been for quite a while. Both products deserve credit. Best part is that GSX improved on AES, as already mentioned by others. It is likely there will always be better products to come, including improvements on existing ones. Let us continue benefiting from the competition, no lamentations necessary or bashing necessary.

My Files in the AVSIM Library

Its a great programme. Though i haven't used it for a few days...there is one annoying sound issue for me, and its the repetitive, "hello" when people board. Sounds like its on a really short loop. A longer sound effect when boarding would be great.Steve

Steve, you are absolutely right. That was the first thing I noticed. There's also some reference to Heathrow too! In fact that was the first tweak I did. I imported the file into an editor and cut out that first section, which in truth is a couple of seconds. If you would like the edited sound file just PM me and I'll email it across to you.

I think it actually says something like "which row please" not Heathrow, although I must admit it took me a while to figure it out.

Cheers, Andy.
