i5 10600KF, 32 GB 3200 RAM, ASUS 4070 12GB EVO, Asus ROG Z490-H, 2 WD Black NVME for each Win11 (500GB) and MSFS (1TB), Rolling Cache 16GB, Photogrammetry always OFF, Live Weather and Live Traffic always ON, Res 2560x1440 on 27"

Yep, the circle is complete. We're back to basics :)

Simmerhead - Making the virtual skies unsafe since 1987!

Fantastic visual summation of the history of the MSFS franchise. While I owned several of those versions, for some reason I never really " got into it" until FSX. Probably because it was so overwhelming and finally, with FSX, I took the time to search out and find forums/newsgroups and started asking questions and seeking out help. Thanks for posting, I enjoyed watching that!

Nice...after you turn off the music! ;-)

I ran the 1st FS on the first true laptop, a DG/1 (Data General). It was amazing when it worked. Then upgraded to the first Toshiba laptop (>$7,000 for that baby) with the red plasma display. That was a "true IBM compatible" so FS ran great on it. Many happy hours. We have come a long way indeed.

Wow! does that bring back old memories. If I remember the first FS were on floppies since they weren't any HDs. We have come a long way since those first days both in flight sim and computers. Just amazing and I am only 70 years young. Can't wait to see what it will be like when and if I reach 80.Great video.thanks,Carl

Oh, there were HDs... they just didn't come cheap. I remember my original 20MB HD in the mid '80s that cost $500.

Interesting summary, it is sad to think about what could have been over the next 10 years if MS continued to develop the Flight Simulator franchise. Only negative of the video is the text goes by too fast.

Yes I do remember the first 20mb I bought but before that I also remember the Apple, which had a green screen and 5 1/2 floppy drive and 128mb ram with a FS. Finally switched to the PC with a 20mb segate drive. I was uptown then.
