March 23, 201214 yr Hi Don.I will probably start using my joystick when Flight has better control settings for it.The mouse was fairly tricky at first but I got used to it in no time. I did adjust its sensitivity in the control panel. I increased its speed a bit.( you could be right about the harder challenges being easier with the mouse, auto trim etc. Either that or I am just really good. :Peace: :LMAO: )Fred. Frederic Steiner.
March 23, 201214 yr I've found that the trim increments aren't granular enough to trim out perfectly. You can edit the repeat setting in the relevant part of your controls.xmlI took mine down to 16<Entry> <Index>11</Index> <Down> <EventName>FlightControls.PitchTrimDownIncrement</EventName> <Repeat>16.000000</Repeat> </Down>And the same for UPI'm going to take it down a little more..I have it assigned to a little wheel on my joystickjake JAKE EYREIt's a small step from the sublime to the ridiculous...Napoleon Bonaparte
March 23, 201214 yr I thought previous testing had found that adjusting the Repeat Rate entry didn't actually change anything. Was this fixed?
March 23, 201214 yr LOL - Maybe I need fixing! Perhaps it's another clever little experiment in social engineering by MS..I think it's had an effect. Job done!Perception is 95% of reality. I'm going to take it down to zero and report back - when I've landed this sick person - ugh!bestjake JAKE EYREIt's a small step from the sublime to the ridiculous...Napoleon Bonaparte

March 23, 201214 yr which is how it should be, no? But then a setting of 16.00000 would be 16 degrees? hmm..But, the settings in fsx.cfg don't folow a linear curve for things like text transition time etc..so if you put it back to 16, what happens, Don?bestjakeIt definitely has an effect. Mine is set to 16.00000 and each increment of my little trim-wheel moves the trim 7 degso there we arejake JAKE EYREIt's a small step from the sublime to the ridiculous...Napoleon Bonaparte
March 23, 201214 yr I'm hoping that they improve the joystick control soon. They seemed to have focused mostly mouse and gamepad control and neglected joystick/pedal control. I guess they figured that most users will fly with a mouse or a gamepad. ~ Arwen ~ Home Airfield: KHIE
March 23, 201214 yr me too..the throttle is way too ott..a tiny movement of my throttle and it goes up at least 10%. i tried messing with the throttle sensitivity. it didn't seem to make sense.jake JAKE EYREIt's a small step from the sublime to the ridiculous...Napoleon Bonaparte

March 23, 201214 yr I am using Logitech G940 and i also experience RV6' jerkiness tendency to even a slightest input. It's not that bad but it is annoying. I hope they implement a proper FF support soon and fix those minor control related issues. I don't think it takes too much time to fix that.I had to tone down the sensitivity of my joystick, add a little bit of a dead zone and i think i found a sweet spot. Still, the problems i mentioned still persist but the overall feel of control is quite nice. Can't wait for that non-linear curve and FF to kick in. It will be awesome :)Cheers
March 23, 201214 yr Moderator It definitely has an effect. Mine is set to 16.00000 and each increment of my little trim-wheel moves the trim 7 degDuring my extensive testing, I found that any <Repeat> entry at all resulted in +/- 4 to 6 degrees no matter how quickly I "tapped" the control, which in my case is a rocker switch. March 23, 201214 yr I worked around the joystick trim either being "responsive but too-fast repeating" or "fine control but non-repeating" by setting my joystick software to map my trim buttons to the keyboard keys used for trim adjustment. Now, I get one degree at a click but it still repeats if I want to hold it down a couple of seconds for rapid adjustments.
March 23, 201214 yr well then, I'm even more confused, now. I have a Cyborg X and I have assigned the little wheel (that is actually a rolling two-way button) between the two lower thumb buttons, and right under the POV to my trim up/down. When I had my setting at 16.00000 it moved the trim wheel in the Vans at a rate of 7deg/click. I changed that line to 0.00000 and now it moves it 1deg/click and 1%/click in the Stearman. In the Stearman it seems to have a deadzone. Not so in the Vans as far as I can tell. Why is this different from you, to me, to Don whom I don't know if he's even tweaked his xml..Go figure! That might be the difference maybe? Don B
