March 23, 201214 yr I have been sending any glitches I find to [email protected] far, I haven't found many. They are:1. GUI/Map bug - when changing to the map, sometimes the view shoots off downward with no input from me. I have to drag it back with the mouse2. Aerocache sensor bug - The aerocache sensor never stays displayed when I select it to do so. I have to escape and tick and un-tick it to get it back.3. Removal of misson texts - I discovered I could get rid of the graphic and subtitles by turning off subtitles, POI and text chat. They come back randomly in missions (or is that right?)4. Night-time lighting - there are weird lights all over the place at night; not near buildings. Campers, perhaps?5. Mixture effect (or is this by design?) - The mixture seems to cut the engibe but have little other effect - been up to 15k in the Maule and RV6 ad it doesn't really do anything. I'm not sure this really counts as a bug, but then why have it at all? That's it so farWhat have you found?bestjake JAKE EYREIt's a small step from the sublime to the ridiculous...Napoleon Bonaparte
March 23, 201214 yr About the weird lights....... I am suspecting (with no evidence at all) that we might see some Orbx-like night lighting at some point.......... We are all connected..... To each other, biologically...... To the Earth, chemically...... To the rest of the Universe atomically. March 23, 201214 yr Hi Jake. The night lighting was perfect in the early beta stage (Jan 5th - 17th). The Dev team said that they were very happy with it themselves, but most testers were complaining that it was much too dark.I think now it is much too bright and I also find those "lights" that you mention a bit strange. As regards No 1......I find that this happens if your cursor is at the bottom of the screen or indeed the top or sides.Fred. Frederic Steiner.
March 23, 201214 yr It is way too bright at night, but I imagine that is a matter of catering to a broader audience. The ground actually seems to glow, and I did write about this to MS, among my other feedback.
March 23, 201214 yr Author Hi Fred,Yes. At night it's dark. That's the idea, I think? :) I wonder what made them put little faery lights all over the place, though. As you say, it isn't really that dark, either, but then nor is FSX unless you use Shade or ENB..Perhaps, like the N to Skip thing that Jcomm was talking about, they got some focus-groups on it and decided that the world was a scary enough place already, and that little kids might be playing Flight - best not to annoy the target audience's mum's, eh :DAs for the cursor thing; I thought that myself but it seems to do it when my cursor is in the middle sometimes..perhaps, when I switch to map it is still taking input from my joystick? I don't know. Perhaps I'm just a bit cack-handed and have a cluttered desk :)bestjake JAKE EYREIt's a small step from the sublime to the ridiculous...Napoleon Bonaparte
March 23, 201214 yr As for light and colour I imagine it is a very difficult task to get right since I suspect very few gamers use calibrated monitors. Simmerhead - Making the virtual skies unsafe since 1987!
March 23, 201214 yr Jake,I am away from my FLIGHT machine, but I could almost sware that at least in the Maule, and provided one does not choose to use "simple mixture" (one of the options), leaning works and is indeed necessary to climb higher without loosing the engine. It is even possible to use the "peak EGT" technique and FF variation is also noticeable (?) 5. Mixture effect (or is this by design?) - The mixture seems to cut the engibe but have little other effect - been up to 15k in the Maule and RV6 ad it doesn't really do anything. March 23, 201214 yr Moderator Both the prop and mixture controls have an <AxNull>....</AxNull> entry in the standard.xml file......which means that only the "top half" of the two levers is being used for the entire control range! These need to be REMOVED manually, as there is no such null area in a linear control... Once removed, the prop and mixture controls respond as we would expect them to.The throttle entry is correct already of course. :Nerd: Fr. March 23, 201214 yr Thank you. I was starting to wonder about the mixture, though the prop control steels perfectly normal to me. I find that I get almost no response to the mixture until I pull it back about 75% at sea level. My engine should be running very rough way before that point.

March 23, 201214 yr Every once in awhile when I place my plane in a location on the map screen then exit the map I am in a super crazy spin. Going to the map and back will fix it. Aaron
March 23, 201214 yr Author wow..genius..I've been messing around with the xml and didn't even think to do this! I had noticed it was a kind of one size fits all sort of setting..sort of on or nearly offThank you very much, N4gix JAKE EYREIt's a small step from the sublime to the ridiculous...Napoleon Bonaparte
March 23, 201214 yr Author hmm.well neither my prop nor mixture controls have a null zone entry. is this because i don't have them mapped to an axis?jake JAKE EYREIt's a small step from the sublime to the ridiculous...Napoleon Bonaparte
