Prepar3D $49, What We've Been Asking For

Featured Replies

Again, my questions are....Why is it that we do not see that kind of questionning from personal consumers on other sim's forums......and the answer is.....?Or, why is it that we see that kink of questionning only here on Prepar3D forum from personal consumers......and the answer is....?
Because other vendors main FS business involves servicing the enthusiast market, but as we all know LM's involves selling products to the commercial world. That is the main reason that we have this 'debate' mainly fostered by so called 'armchair lawyers' who quite clearly don't know or don't care about the potential damage such discussions on public forums could cause. That the potential exists for damage to occur is evidenced by TA's stickied post above so maybe we should all take note of that post before threads get locked/deleted and members banned.Bryan.

It's very simple. If you don't agree with the EULA don't use Prepar3D. If you don't understand the EULA ask Locheed Martin since noone in these forums qualify to answer any question regarding the EULA.As for me. I have never ever read an EULA, and probably never will. Anything written by a lawyer gives me a headache.

As the OP, I feel this thread has become nothing but an argument between the "armchair lawyers" and has deviated from the original intent of the thread. Thanks to those who replied with intent to continue the original discussion, and shame on those who feel it their job to shut down all discussion about P3D by again bringing up the EULA. This is ridiculous! In light of the posts by Tom and David regarding discussion of the legal aspects of P3D, I humbly request for this thread, which was not meant to devolve into another legal discussion, be locked.

Just before the thread is locked. I want to say that I agree with your post. The new licensing level is exactly what the flight simulator community was expecting.

Fine you win. Don't purchase Prepar3D and go use either MS Flight or X-Plane. Whatever is it that you like.Call me childish if you want, but from now on I will ignore your comments.

What I think most people don't understand is why Prepar3d has to be like that. It's clear to me that Microsoft would NEVER sell the code from their number one simulator for years only to have it a few years later sold as a direct competitor to their own product, in this case, Flight. It's obvious that the contract under which the FSX base code has been sold to Lockheed leaves no gap for it to be offered in any other way than for commercial use. This will never change, you will never hear anyone from Lockheed talking that's OK to buy Prepar3d if you just want to have fun and make your flights with your addons, unless Microsoft changes her mind someday, which will probably never happen. This is not based on any fact I read, it's just my observation of how things are between Lockheed and Microsoft

Hi Gerry,I don't understand the meaning of your post, what's your point?. L/M has been stating that P3D is NOT an ENTERTAINMENT product since P3D was first introduced. Your not stating anything new with your email. If your planning on developing entertainment addons as stated in your email, it can't be done for P3D.The academic version of P3D is geared toward students, here are just a few definitions of the word student.A person engaged in study, One who is devoted to learning, A learner, A pupil, A scholar, One who seeks knowledge from professional teachers or from books and/or online study material, One who studies or examines in any manner; as well as an attentive and systematic observer.

Everyone here at AVSIM will meet at least one of these definitions.
