New Aerosoft Twotter inbound...

Featured Replies

I love my Twin Otter, but sadly it is starting to look and feel a little shabby next to some of the newer acquisitions in my hangar...I am therefore a very happy camper having learned that Aerosoft are hard at work on a totally new Twotter.Annoyingly, it doesn't look like they will offer any upgrade path for current owners - in their words as "it doesn't reuse any assets from the old model and is a completely new project" which is a shame, though I am sure it won't prevent me from reaching for my credit card on release. They also won't be offering a 400 variant this time round either, which isn't a deal-breaker, but it would be nice to see one at some point. What a great plane - STOL, relaxing to fly, full of character, infinitely flexible and one of my favourites for playing Air Hauler missions.Really looking forward to this one.

Cheers!

Yeah, I heard that was on the way, unfortunately, it looks like they won't be including the funky new 400 variant in the package, which would have been cool, but I'll settle for the traditional one getting a makeover. I do think the old one still has a good deal of merit though.Al

Check out my youtube flight sim videos: Here

The old one doesn't stand up with modern day addons in terms of texturing but by 'eck it does fly good! ..... That is one plane where the hand flying characteristics are just divine ........ I hope this transcends to the new model. :(

Absolutely - if a klutz like myself can guide it fully laden into short, unlit grass strips in the middle of nowhere in atrocious weather, its gotta be good!

Cheers!

Thanks for the discourse here, gents. What a pity no upgrade incentives, and no 400. Reckon I'll stick on the old version, warts and all.I can envisage the same business model for their upcoming AirbusX v2, no upgrade incentive.Like stated, re:Twotter v1, a joy to hand-fly even if the textures, et al are not up to today's specs.

For us existing Twotter owners it would be nice to get an upgrade discount but as i doubt the devs do this just for glory and if the hours have been put in from scratch its fair play to make us pay the full whack. As long as it improves from the original its worth it i reckon.

Kind Regards

Simon.

Not sure why a discount is being talked about as the first one came out years ago and have had many a fun flight since, the handling is just magic, also not worried about the -400 either or the GPS whatsit, the current Twinotter is still one of my all time fav sim aircrafts, so will happily pick this up, if the VC is anything remotely like the Bronco its going to be a winnerI heard the news of this the day it was announced and am still grinning

I thought the previous version flew very well and looked great from the outside but had a dreadful VC even when it was released so I am really looking forward to a 2012 version. The same goes for the Beaver which I read may be next!

Of course you won't get a discount. The old one came out yonks ago. And they did give it out free in the Antarctica scenery, which I thought was nice.I'm hoping the new one will be as good as the Flight1 Islander. I'm looking forward to some beach landings at EGPR on Barra...

I bought it when it first came out in March 2008 - four years is such a l-o-o-o-o-o-o-ng time in this hobby :(

I owned Lukla X so got a discount on the Twotter itself. Then a discount on Anarctica X since I owned the Twotter. All in all not a bad deal. Not too disappointed by lack of a upgrade discount.-ed

Yes, when it's a completely new development as this is (not a 'facelift update') I would not expect any discount, as it's not an 'upgrade', it's a brand new 2012 product.I will 100% buy this the day it is released... again I will enjoy flying the Glasgow - Barra Flights (landing on the beach :()

If you have the Dangerouse airports scenery, Barra is magic :)
