March 29, 201214 yr Look, I love the A6M "Zero". It was an amazing warbird as were so many of the WWII aircraft. I love the P-51D even more. But, without a cockpit, I'm just not inclined to fly them in Flight, FSX, or any other sim. If I want to fly an aircraft like I'd fly an RC airplane, I'll use RealFlight (an RC Simulator and probably the best of the bunch). Regardless of the fidelity of both the flight and external model, I just can't bring myself to purchase an "external only" aircraft. This poll asked me to rate the A6M regardless of whether I had purchased it or not ("1 is also for the ones who decided to not buy the plane), and I did so. Even explained my reasons. If you don't like them, that's OK with me. But being what they are, opinions can't by definition be wrong. Now, if they gave us a working VC in either or better yet, both, I'd buy them in a heartbeat!Just my $0.02 worth. Take it or leave it.WildBill
March 29, 201214 yr You can say they are for kids, you can try to boycott it, whatever. Im enjoying it, and at the end of the day that is what matters. You are absolutely correct. As long as "you" find enjoyment in "your" choice, that truly is all that matters. You should never been looked down on, or critisized, for this - just as someone like myself, who does not want the aircraft because if I am going to fly, I want to fly inside the plane with working guages, should not be critisized or looked down on, for my choice.Any DLC put out there and offered, heck just like the Flight program itself, is just that - an offering - and we as consumers can choose if it is for us , or if it is not for us. I myself am indeed grateful, that we do have the choices that we have. Don B
March 29, 201214 yr I already have an external model of a Zero, it is sitting on my desk, next to the F4F; I don't need the virtual version of it.Don't get me wrong, I would love to zip around in an acrobatic warbird, It would be alot of fun. But, I will not do this from a 3rd person perspective, there are other games for that (mostly on phones these days). I just want this "basic" model nonsense to go away before they make something that I really want. It would be a massive let down to get, for example, a Beech King Air or a DC-3 in an external model. I really, really hope the Zero does not sell well in order to put an end to this. Todd Fleck
March 29, 201214 yr WildBill, I do apologize for "downgrading" your post. When I first read it, it came across to me as arrogance at first. I dont know, I have just seen so many "I am a hard core simmer, I will not stand for this kiddy stuff" posts about Flight lately that I probably got more defensive than I should have. But as dburne stated above, no one should be criticized for doing what they enjoy. Could not have said it better, I wish everyone had the same mind state as dburne, the world would be a much better place. So again, I am sorry for going on the defence so quickly. I hope you guys all have a chance at some point to give the Zero a try, it really is a fun plane. I was totally against the idea of flying in 3rd person, as it feels like cheating to me. But the great thing about Flight, is that I can do still go do VOR flights in zero visibility using nothing but the instrument panel, or I can fly around in 3rd person and and not worry about what the FAA is going to think :)
March 29, 201214 yr 0, and i wish there was a way to hide all Basic Aicraft from the hangar menu. Ramón. Time, is the one thing no one can buy.

Could not have said it better, I wish everyone had the same mind state as dburne, the world would be a much better place. Thanks, I appreciate the compliment.I guess I just always try to look at both sides of the coin so to speak.Much like when the wife and I go to a movie - which we do for entertainment, just like I do flight simming for entertainment.I may love the movie, and she may not like it so much. And that is ok, cause we both have different expectations of what we get out of that same movie... the next time, it may be just the opposite.Perhaps not so good an anology, but my mind tends to think in rather simplistic terms. March 29, 201214 yr Of course is stupid criticizing what others like to do if this doesn't harm the environment and people but it is wise to criticize a game, above all if 95% agrees on that.
March 29, 201214 yr but it is wise to criticize a game, above all if 95% agrees on that.Absolutely, does not matter really how many agree. While I am enjoying parts of Flight, I have certainly been critical in areas I don't like, or think it is lacking in, in a tactful way. Both on the forums, and in emails directly to the Flight team. If we don't give them appropriate feedback on our opinions, then they may never be known. Don B
March 29, 201214 yr The plane is a lot of fun to fly. No cockpit sure is a bummer, but hey, its dirt cheap and like i said, a lot of fun to fly. The low price point totally makes up for the lack of cockpit. You can say they are for kids, you can try to boycott it, whatever. Im enjoying it, and at the end of the day that is what matters. I am just as upset as you guys that there is no cockpit, but we knew this was coming. You guys nit pick every little thing the Flight team says in interviews, I would expect you all to know that their intention from the start was to release Basic aircraft along side Deluxe aircraft.Would I have liked a Deluxe aircraft? Sure! But in the mean time, I will take a very fun, $4 plane without a cockpit and wait patiently for Alaska.Actually the low price does not make up for the lack of a cockpit for many, including myself. I have tried no cockpit/VC planes in FS9 and FSX, it just doesn't work for me. it could have been free and wouldn't have ended up on my HD. I am trilled you are enjoying it, but i also agree with the fewer that purchase it, the bigger the message to MS, I really pray that they do not release another unfinished aircraft, but time will tellOne thing that Flight has done for me is get me back into actually playing and not modding. I am a scenery developer and modeler and most of my FSX time was spent in 3DSMax or Gmax and with the SDKs. Thanks to Flight I have been enjoying flying, BUT I have also been going back to games i neglected for a while, BF3, Sims3, Tropico 4 and the GRAW series, so my point being, while I have been involved with every new version of FS, if this unfinished addon business continues, I have other areas I can spend my time (and money!) on.BTW who's idea was this vote a post up or down thingy, that is like something you'd see on a kids gaming forum, LOL. Best, Michael KDFW
March 29, 201214 yr What is the hate with RC aircraft? lots of people want to fly them or aerofly wouldn't be still be around.Take a deep breath go outside and do something else for a couple of months, or do you all know when your going to die and have to have STUFF NOW. It's like we can't live for 80+ years and only have the life span of a moth.

The Flight team knows what we want. It doesnt matter where you go, Facebook, the official website, forums, youtube, the community has been very vocal about wanting ATC, TrackIR, "Deluxe" aircraft, jets, you name it. Purchasing a "basic" model aircraft will not change that. Do you really think that the casual fans will still be around 6 months from now?I did purchase the Zero because after flying the P51, I got a taste of a different side of Flight. One where I could just fly around and have fun and breaking all the rules. I would have LOVED a proper cockpit for both the P51 and the Zero, but that is not what MS gave us, and as disappointed as I am about that, I now think of the "Deluxe" aircraft as the "Simulation" aircraft and the "Basic" models as "Arcade" aircraft. I understand a lot of simmers do not like the Arcade aspects of Flight, but hey, if you think about it like that, the Zero is a lot easier to swallow. We just have to wait and see what Alaska has in store, I guess. But you shouldnt boycott the Basic aircraft, just make sure you support Flight when they do release something that you enjoy. As much as it sucks for us, the game is only a month old, they are still trying to cater to their "millions of new players".
March 29, 201214 yr I would have no problem whatsoever with "basic" aircraft if they also released a "deluxe" version at the same time. Let us choose which version we want.
March 29, 201214 yr My complaint is that it does not achieve its real top speed at all... or its aerobatic qualities The P-51 is the same. About 250 MPH in level flight and full throttle is the best you can get. I almost seems like flying the same plan as the P-51.Brian
