Multiplayer Idiots

Featured Replies

The moderators will likely delete this for naming the person.....but can anyone tell me how someone could join my open multiplayer game, then buzz me endlessly, then purposely knock me out of the sky. The idiot is MRKLEE69, at 10:16 EDST today......and I thought all children would be in school at this time!

If its an open session then anyone can join an do what they want, theres no rules. Some have fun taking off and landing others have fun knocking people out the sky. Naming and shaming is also not a nice thing to do, the guy can play the game anyway he wants in an open for all session.

You can report him via LIVE, or file a compain and you can also "Silence" or "Mute" the user in question.

You can also kick him out of your Multiplayer session.

Hey Larry,

Welcome to the forums!

I myself do not do mulltiplayer, just not my thing at this time, but I believe you should be able to change some settings to where this does not happen.

It is my understanding when you are signed into Live and running Flight, you are automatically in multiplayer anyway.

I think you will want to go into your multiplayer menu, and select whether you want to just allow " friends", gamertags you have designated as a friend, or " private", if you do not want anyone joining.

Upon learning how one is always in multiplayer I went into my settings and changed to "private"...

I understand, and appreciate the helpful comments.I see no point in reporting, and he is already kicked out. I like to have it open to "make new friends" and to fly with others. In fact, I have met some real nice players doing this. As for naming and shaming, I 'almost' agree.........but still, I don't really get it. I am reminded of my days in WOW how many children play their own version of games.......so be it.

In addition, we can all add to a player's "Reputation". Simply go to the "Live" panel (press the Home key), find that player (probably in the "Players" tab listing all those that have been in a session with you) and give them either a "Good" or "Bad" Reputation by choosing "Give Player Review". You can either "Prefer Player" or "Avoid Player".

Flight will remember your choice and not place you in sessions with players you wish to avoid, but will give preference to those you prefer.

And Larry, it is probably unfair to joke that these people are young. Most likely, they are all old men like the rest of us, but who don't particularly care or respect others. It would be simple for them to open a Text Chat Window and ask if anybody wants to get into a crash dogfight, but they don't even bother and just annoy everybody. But, they are not kids.

Best regards.

Luis

I never went beyond the free trial in WoW because of a few idiots I ran in to.

The other day, I was completing a job, and as I rolled out, someone popped up on the runway and I crashed into him. I know these things aren't always intentional, because I once was trying to get around and ended up hitting someone myself.

It happens but it's rare. Kicking out and in Live doing the bad reputation tip is the solution. I must admit I often meet sympathic guys in multi.

I normally host my own session simply so I can boot the problem-children (and problem-adults, of course).

I just wish kicking somebody out would also automatically add them to your "avoid this player" list and prevent them from rejoining.

No Rules??? How about a little R-E-S-P-E-C-T.... in the form of common courtesy. I seriously doubt if one of those knuckleheads was practicing an approach, they would get a huge kick if someone zoomed thru them while they were in the flare.

And the "name and shame".... should be a sticky of knuckleheads that like to do this stuff...

Unless of course.... it's a session where it's agreed to and then sure let's have it.

There you go... precisely why a decade ago I gave up the Star Wars BF1 mp because some knucklehead joins your team and starts killing you and teammates.

"See and Avoid" is something to practice... not "the name of the game".

Just to clarify, my "children" comment was tongue in cheek, meaning childish behaviour of a "adult", again a WOW definition.......

And thanks for the info Luis, I did not know of the Reputation option; he's now rewarded.

As for accidental crashes, yes they do happen. However, I was doing a mission out of Dillingham and I watched him come in from a few miles and suspected what he was up to. He stayed in and out of less than a mile range to me, but it took him over five minutes to knock me out...so he is a less than talented pilot if it took that long to get close to me.

Thanks for all the comments, my twofold objective was to lower my anger by ranting, and to publicly name him; hopefully the Flight community will make an effort to permit these kind of actions only when there is an invite to play crash 'em..........

I agree, nothing is more disappointing than to have someone come from behind while you are on slow final and knock you and your passenger or cargo out of the sky, especially if the flight was one of the longer ones. Makes that hour seem wasted.

Please leave the pilots alone that are communicating their presence to you... they are not giving you coordinates for a kamikazee attack.

Its just like FSX multiplayer, full of people messing around. But anyway in FSX you can at least join VATSIM / IVAO for more serious flying, in Flight you have no option.

I have activated the screenshot view and mapped it to the F8 key.

When in mutliplayer I will aim the camera on my six so I can toggle between F8 and F9 quickly when a kidiot is trying to sneak up behind me.

I will wait to the last second before he hits me and then press the "M" key, I suspect he is surprised when I vanish right in front of him, hahahaha.

If I am hosting I will then go to the multiplayer screen and give the offender the boot, it is surprisingly satisfying.

regards,

Joe

I'm with Uncle Larry, name and shame the idiot..there may not be rules, but there are things called minding your own bloody business.
