April 6, 201214 yr Hey guys, so i was in the Steam group chat earlier and one of the devs was in the chat, so I thought i would ask what was up with the lack of stars in the night sky. I have never seen any stars, and nobody I have spoke to has seen stars. But sure enough, there are apparently stars out there. Here is a screenshot the dev posted in the chat, and a screenshot that i took. See for yourself, the faint stars in the night sky in the top picture. STARS: http://cloud.steampowered.com/ugc/578952670167519979/9DFC9849E62FB6FACC721DB6F696C93387196F4F/ NO STARS: http://cloud.steampowered.com/ugc/559812102324683438/5BB8F266EBC66BD9CD152B0B316A025768232D9D/ So.. can we have a quick vote on who can and who cannot see stars? They posted a poll on the Steam forums but they are inaccessible to most people at the moment.
April 6, 201214 yr ( I was seeing stars last night after my girlfriend hit me on the head with a frying pan ! :LMAO: ) I have seen stars lots of times. It depends on the time of course and if the moon is bright or not. If you play around with the Night settings/time you will see lots of stars. Fred. Frederic Steiner.
April 6, 201214 yr Commercial Member Maybe you have to buy an update pack to enable stars with the Zero... kidding, of course. :rofl: Brandon Filer
April 6, 201214 yr I've seen stars, and reported it early in the beta. They're kinda faint though. Nothing like what we had in FSX before SP2. I wanna see bright Stars! I wanna see the Milky Way, with two different levels of brightness! I wanna see shooting stars (I was surprised to see them in The Sims, most people never looked up at the sky in that one). And while I'm wishing, I'd kinda like a Mercedes SUV. :D Hook Larry Hookins Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of EarthAnd danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;
April 6, 201214 yr @Ryr738, HughesMDflyer4 and LHookins: LOL! :)) Loved your funny remarks. Speaking of stars, yes i've seen some (does Justin Bieber count?) :) Seriously, there are stars in Flight but they are far from being pronounced, at least during my night flights. Gotta admit though that i do not stare that much in the sky and i fly from inside the cockpit for the most part but i am sure brightening them up wouldn't hurt anybody. Speaking of things we wish for (and i won't say i'm wishing for a Ferrari 599), i am kind of modest....i want LIGHTNINGS! I can hardly believe i don't see other people craving for those :( I posted it in another thread a while ago but i felt compelled to infect this thread too :) So, whoever sees a Flight member in chat or on the street, please let him know we need lightnings. I mostly fly stormy weather and isolated storms and even though it's great, i know that lightnings would just make it not only much more realistic, but also a hundred times more appealing (REX anyone?). Cheers
April 6, 201214 yr I just took this pic from the cockpitless P-51. (moved the date forward about 2 weeks so there is no moon) Lots of stars ! Flight is using the same star database with 9,096 stars as FSX used. The file is named stars.dat. Fred. Frederic Steiner.

I have asked everyone that I play with if they could see stars and only 1-2 of them have ever seen them. Very strange.

April 6, 201214 yr If you don't see the moon you'll have stars, if you see the moon well you get the idea :D
April 6, 201214 yr Author If you don't see the moon you'll have stars, if you see the moon well you get the idea :D Wait, what? How does that work?
April 6, 201214 yr The stars are too dim even when the moon is absent.... There is no lightning, which isn't good, but bad lightning is worse than no lightning - an occasional bright flash or flicker would be welcome - but only if accompanied by the most important aspect of unsettled weather - THUNDER there is no atmosphere without thunder rumbling at least - or cracking here and there
April 6, 201214 yr Author Alright, so yeah.. whatever universe Flight is based in, you cannot see stars when there is a full moon. Changed the date in game to a week later when the moon was in a different cycle and could see stars.
April 7, 201214 yr Hi Folks Stars being suppressed by the moon was bugged and MS announced as a fix in progress. What is lacking is relative brightness for prominent stars. HTH ATB Paul ODG Preview
April 7, 201214 yr I hope if they can't fix the relative brightness for individual stars they just up the brightness for the whole pack. I'd rather have them ridiculously overdone than unnaturally dim, but I'm a sucker for starscapes. :Bug:
