NGX And Shockwave3D Lights?

Featured Replies

Use the "fx_shockwave_landing_light_narrow_old.fx" light for the landing lights. I found for me that I do not get the banding when I used those lights in the aircraft.cfg file. I went through every light and tested them all. It works for me.

Thanks for sharing your configurations, Steve. I will test them tonight. By the way, your paintings are awesome!! Thank you!!

Ok after more invetigation in sim model is fine if you rotate around the side a bit its some sort of reflection thing going on if your straight on to the side view of the aircraft the lines or reflections whatever you want to call it are gone if you start to rotate around a bit they start to become more obvious so again not sure what thats about but no biggie.

Ah Steve your awesome thanks pal.

Thanks for your help, Richard.

Best regards

Here are my -600 aircraft.cfg light settings. Yes I edit the light type in the aircraft.cfg file. The ones with "old" in the name are the wing lights that shine on the side of the fuselage.

[LIGHTS]

//Types: 1=beacon, 2=strobe, 3=navigation, 4=cockpit, 5=landing, 6=taxi, 7=recognition, 8=wing, 9=logo, 10=cabin

light.0 = 4, 32.390, 0.0, 5.500, fx_PMDG_NGX_vclight

light.1 = 4, 30.890, 0.0, 4.500, fx_PMDG_NGX_vclight

light.2 = 5, 4.50, -8.24, 0.32, fx_shockwave_landing_light_narrow_old.fx // Shockwave light

light.3 = 5, 4.50, 8.16, 0.30, fx_shockwave_landing_light_narrow_old.fx // Shockwave light

light.4 = 6, 27.60, 0.00, -5.45, fx_shockwave_landing_light_narrow_old.fx // Shockwave light

light.5 = 5, 5.70, 3.65, -3.80, fx_shockwave_landing_light_short.fx // Shockwave light

light.6 = 5, 5.70, -3.65, -3.80, fx_shockwave_landing_light_short.fx // Shockwave light

Here's what they look like in FSX. No banding of the lighting against the fuselage.

Guys;

it was much better now, with Steve settings. As Richard noted, there is still a small part of the fuselage is still weird, but very little indeed.

I only left one question: for -7/8/900, I use the settings of post 06 and add "_old.fx" in lights 2, 3 and 4? Or the values are also others?

Best regards

Cristiano Yes just add those lines to all of your other configurations the only thing different between them are the numbers which loacate the light so just replace all 5 lines the same way, thats it.

Thank you Richard!!!

And thank you Steve for sharing the settings.

What I hate about the shockwave lights is the fact that the beam 'cone' is visible even in clear weather. In real life, it's only visible either in foggy weather or when passing through the clouds or so. That alone is a dealbreaker for me

Steve, thanks for the settings.

I took the liberty to change them a little, and managed to remove that aspect of banding from the bottom of the fuselage. What I did was the following:

Steve settings:

-800 Lights

[LIGHTS]

//Types: 1=beacon, 2=strobe, 3=navigation, 4=cockpit, 5=landing, 6=taxi, 7=recognition, 8=wing, 9=logo, 10=cabin

light.0 = 4, 47.000, 0.0, 5.500, fx_PMDG_NGX_vclight

light.1 = 4, 45.500, 0.0, 4.500, fx_PMDG_NGX_vclight

light.2 = 5, 4.50, -8.24, 0.32, fx_shockwave_landing_light_narrow_old.fx // Shockwave light

light.3 = 5, 4.50, 8.16, 0.30, fx_shockwave_landing_light_narrow_old.fx // Shockwave light

light.4 = 6, 42.60, 0.00, -5.45, fx_shockwave_landing_light_narrow_old.fx // Shockwave light

light.5 = 5, 5.70, 3.65, -3.80, fx_shockwave_landing_light_short.fx // Shockwave light

light.6 = 5, 5.70, -3.65, -3.80, fx_shockwave_landing_light_short.fx // Shockwave light

My changes:

-800 Lights

[LIGHTS]

//Types: 1=beacon, 2=strobe, 3=navigation, 4=cockpit, 5=landing, 6=taxi, 7=recognition, 8=wing, 9=logo, 10=cabin

light.0 = 4, 47.000, 0.0, 5.500, fx_PMDG_NGX_vclight

light.1 = 4, 45.500, 0.0, 4.500, fx_PMDG_NGX_vclight

light.2 = 5, 4.50, -8.24, 0.32, fx_shockwave_landing_light_narrow.fx // Shockwave light

light.3 = 5, 4.50, 8.16, 0.30, fx_shockwave_landing_light_narrow.fx // Shockwave light

light.4 = 6, 42.60, 0.00, -5.45, fx_shockwave_landing_light_narrow.fx // Shockwave light

light.5 = 5, 5.70, 3.65, -3.80, fx_shockwave_landing_light_short_old.fx // Shockwave light

light.6 = 5, 5.70, -3.65, -3.80, fx_shockwave_landing_light_short_old.fx // Shockwave light

And I did so with the rest of the settings, always changing the landing and the taxi lights.

If someone want to test...

Best regards

Cristiano Mueller

What I hate about the shockwave lights is the fact that the beam 'cone' is visible even in clear weather. In real life, it's only visible either in foggy weather or when passing through the clouds or so. That alone is a dealbreaker for me

I hear what your saying. I only use shockwave lights on the AI traffic. But to your comment I agree.

Thanks Cristiano,

Great work all !!

I shall try this next week.

Is it possible to make the taxilight a bit smaller, because I think the lights shine a bit to wide. that's in Steve' cfg file!

Robert

Boeing777_Banner_Pilot.jpg

I think you will find my taxi light even stronger. If so, change the line

light.4 = 6, 42.60, 0.00, -5.45, fx_shockwave_landing_light_narrow.fx // Shockwave light

to

light.4 = 6, 42.60, 0.00, -5.45, fx_shockwave_landing_light_narrow_old.fx // Shockwave light

and you will return to the configuration of Steve.

I'll see if I can make it more real.

If I can I'll post here.

Best regards

Cristiano Mueller
