NGX And Shockwave3D Lights?

Featured Replies

Is anyone using Shockwave3D lights with the NGX? Any issues or performance hit?

If you enter "shockwave" into the search engine you will see a lot of discussion topics about how to install them into the NGX.

It works, but in a unrealistic manner. If you want to have lights floating around because they are neither following the gear's suspension (e.g. before and after take-off) nor the wing tips' movements then do it.

That's what I needed to know. Thanks.

Mark,

Try this config for the 800wl aircraft.cfg;- It works well for me.

[LIGHTS]

//Types: 1=beacon, 2=strobe, 3=navigation, 4=cockpit, 5=landing, 6=taxi, 7=recognition, 8=wing, 9=logo, 10=cabin

light.0 = 4, 47.000, 0.0, 5.500, fx_PMDG_NGX_vclight

light.1 = 4, 45.500, 0.0, 4.500, fx_PMDG_NGX_vclight

light.2 = 5, 4.50, -8.24, 0.32, fx_shockwave_landing_light_narrow.fx // Shockwave light

light.3 = 5, 4.50, 8.16, 0.30, fx_shockwave_landing_light_narrow.fx // Shockwave light

light.4 = 6, 42.60, 0.00, -5.45, fx_shockwave_landing_light_small.FX // Shockwave light

light.5 = 5, 5.70, 3.65, -3.80, fx_shockwave_landing_light // Shockwave light

light.6 = 5, 5.70, -3.65, -3.80, fx_shockwave_landing_light // Shockwave light

Does anybody have a config for the 600/700/900 versions?

Ken

Make a backup of "aircraft.cfg" before use these settings.

Guys, you are right, it's possible but just for one specific aircraft weight and balance. From far away it might be okay...

What I personally dislike additionally is the fact that shockwave lights are too bright - at least during the day. I decided to remove them from all of my payware aircraft. They are great for AI, though.

The attached pics may show what I want to say: The Queen looks great but in reality it does not look as bright and the difference for both of the P-12 pictures is even more evident (the first is way too bright).

However, I love the NGX as she is - the lights are visible and that's it (see the last pic).

EDIT: Oops, the picture format requires to click in to see all of them (sorry).

Regards,
Axel

Agreed, the Shockwave lights are unrealistically bright, particularly in the day because FSX doesn't adjust the way lights appear according to overall environmental light levels.
