April 11, 201214 yr Ryan, please post your Inspector screenshot settings. I tried these but getting more shimmering than I would like, although frames are good. Just want to make sure I am not missing a setting. Mark CYYZ
April 11, 201214 yr Commercial Member After some more testing 4xS + FXAA stutters pretty badly in heavy clouds - I think it's the supersampling from 4xS doing it though, not the FXAA. 8xQ (*not* 8xSQ) + FXAA seems to be fine with no stutters but there's slightly more shimmering because there's no supersampling. Here's a screenshot of how I have it set for the 4xS version: If you want to try different main AA modes, just change the highlighted field there. AA should be off inside FSX. April 11, 201214 yr Just tried the 301 driver and FSX tells me "This graphics card does not meet minimum requirements...." Strange as the it was happy with my GTX460 with the old driver! So back to the 290.53 driver. Dave
April 11, 201214 yr So you are not setting VSync to 1/2 of screen refresh and locking FSX. Thanks for posting this screenshot. Mark CYYZ

Ryan, can you please confirm if forcing Vsync in the fsx.ini actually has adaptive Vsync working? I mean, does Vsync switch off when below 30 FPS?

Could it be that your framerate limiter is set too high and increase stutters???? Robert
May 2, 201214 yr These drivers are the best I've ever seen with the 1/2 vsync through inspector. I've never had FSX so smooth. No microstutters at all. Finally I can get better performance with great visuals in DX9 vs DX10. AJ Pongress
May 2, 201214 yr 1/2 vsync through inspector. What do you mean by this, also mind posting your settings, thanks. Rich Sennett
May 2, 201214 yr trip7cap is 100% correct. The FXAA settings look like crap for me, but the aforementioned Vsync/Inspector combo is a game changer, whether your gpu is top of the line or a few years old. You owe it to yourself follow Word Not Allowed's guide elsewhere in the Avsim forums on this issue if you do nothing else. May 2, 201214 yr 1/2 vsync through inspector. What do you mean by this, also mind posting your settings, thanks. Read through Word Not Allowed's excellent and comprehensive guide here! Worth following all the steps in order, but their is a small heading under "VSync" that should tell you what you need to know. Cheers! Iain
May 2, 201214 yr I agree Word Not Allowed's tweaks are excellent for perormance but it seems the 301 driver is less than optimum for shimmering and AA in FSX. ArDee
May 2, 201214 yr "301 driver is less than optimum for shimmering and AA in FSX" Bam you nailed it I didnt mess around with it to be honest but right of that bat caused ngx weird issues and thats a no no, slow loading shimmering maybe when I get some more time and patience I will give it another go. Back to 290.53 beta all is well actually perfect, just always wishing for something better I guess. PS I use driver cleaner.net payware which is a great cleaner been using it for years now. Rich Sennett
May 2, 201214 yr I'm using those drivers and AA works just fine. Did you rebuild your Inspector profiles or performed a clean install of the drivers as per Ryan instructions?
May 2, 201214 yr I am getting the same as dazz, good AA, no shimmering.
