April 10, 201214 yr Commercial Member So, it's time for me to ask for help from you all... Note: I would appreciate any and all RTFM and other related comments, provided you point me in the right direction. My issue is that since one of the service packs, I have not once seen any brake temp indication during my flights. Furthermore, I have not experienced a service-based failure, or an RF indication on the hydraulic panel. My main concern is the brake temp. I have used aircraft with both steel and carbon. I have flown them on turns (meaning I've sat around after the landing to simulate a turn, which would be enough time to have the indication pop up), and I have strained the brakes on some rather warm days, on some rather short strips. I am loading from the PMDG default Short Turn panel state. Is that my issue? The SBF and ReFill indications are less of a concern, as I might have been just getting lucky. Could those be showing up because I'm using a default Short Turn panel state? Thoughts? Advice? RTFMs? Kyle Rodgers
April 10, 201214 yr Hi Kyle I have had a similar experience to yourself. I cannot recall ever seing an indication during normal operations, I have just however tried a RTO at MAX weight (rejecting at V1 145kts) and have an indication. So the system does function. It is not as sensitive as when the NGX was first released. Kind regards Paul Edwards

The brake temps are a real mathematical thermodynamics model, not some simple sensitivity thing. Ryan MaziarzFor fastest support, please submit a ticket at http://support.precisionmanuals.com
April 10, 201214 yr I never see the break temps rise while doing autobrake landings. Now, if I try manually breaking, the temps show up. April 10, 201214 yr Yep never get brake temp rise using auto brakes only if using manual braking. Regards James Carr
April 11, 201214 yr I never get any brake temp indication either, just test landed at 170 knots (dont ask how) and used full braking (air temp 95F) with no reverse thrust and they still displayed 0 when I came to a hault -Ryan Vince Quote from 911 magazine: "- ...RSR delivers unparallelled performance and stunning looks"

April 11, 201214 yr Hi just read this thread and decided to see if it would work for me the brake temp.. Loaded at klas at end of rwy loaded fmc etc etc for normal flight took notice of brake temp it read 0. Than i applied full throttle and after i heard v1 applied max brakes and than i noticed the brake temp rising quickly to 4 so its working for me and not others seems strnge its working for some and not others. Edit i didnt have the auto brake set to rto so i will try that next time to see if that makes a difference Ok just did another test with rto selected and the brake pressure rose to 4 again after the rejected takeoff. Next test to see if it works on landing the brake pressure I7-8700k,Corsair h1101 cooler ,Asus Strix Gaming Intel Z370 S11 motherboard, Corsair 32gb ramDD4,, gtx 1080ti Card, RM850 power supply Peter kelberg
April 11, 201214 yr Yep never get brake temp rise using auto brakes only if using manual braking. That's not how it should work, since the method of braking is independent of the temp sensors. Matt Cee
April 11, 201214 yr Author Commercial Member No changes made to the braking "sensitivity" that I know of since release. The brake temps are a real mathematical thermodynamics model, not some simple sensitivity thing. I see what you're saying, but I think he was saying there was some change between the initial release and SP1a (or maybe 'b'). I do remember flying into ORD soon after the release and having the temp register a 3. Since then, I've kept up to date with the service packs, and since then I haven't seen the same indication (or any indication above 0). Any thoughts? Kyle Rodgers
April 11, 201214 yr Author Commercial Member haha That's fair, however, it's been unseasonably warm here in VA (I fly virtually out of IAD/BWI a lot) and I've been down in FL a lot, too. In the grand scheme of things, though, I doubt 15 degrees -C- will make too much of a difference for the brake temp indications. Kyle Rodgers
April 11, 201214 yr I guess not 15 but 30 or so might... fwiw I do have brakes overheat and lose effectiveness. I even got a wheel well fire indication the other day, after an RTO and immediate taxi back to TO. --Peter Fabian
April 11, 201214 yr Author Commercial Member I've probably hosed something in the background. Are you using the default panel states, or are you saving a new state each time you land? Kyle Rodgers
