April 13, 201214 yr Forum doesn't let me search for a phrase with 8 in it.. So can't search for this. Saw a post from a long time ago that a dash 8 was planned, is it still in the pipeline or cancelled? Thanks
April 13, 201214 yr RSR, I think, mentioned it in his presentation. I believe he asid it may have been harder than they thought. Double check the presentation cause I may be off on that. I do not think there has been any more information regarding it. "I am the Master of the Fist!" -Akuma
April 13, 201214 yr The last official statement I've seen on the forum relating (somewhat) to this matter is that: if we don't announce any news, there's no news. Presumably the implication was that if the Dash-8 had been cancelled that would be news, which would be announced, but that hasn't been explicitly stated. John-Alan Pascoe
April 13, 201214 yr The three forthcoming topics mentioned in the presentation were the 777, 747 2.0, and the DC-6, so I would not expect to see the Dash 8 for some time yet. I certainly don't personally expect to see it this year. April 13, 201214 yr meanwhile, there is another dash 8 currently in alpha testing by another company out there, not sure if i can call any names but they are known for making realistic dash 8 simulations. heres a video Bryan Richards "People depend so much on automation that they forget how to get the automation to work." Actually I found the details on their site, is going to be between 737 and 777 so that should be this year: http://support.precisionmanuals.com/KB/a54/pmdg-development-schedule.aspx Tcas - that would be the same one who made the dash 8 years ago for 2004? If they are doing a remake I hope it's this year :)
April 13, 201214 yr Taipan: that schedule contains out-of-date information... over two years old actually. RSR told at the presentation that they had run into difficulties and set the Dash aside for the meantime (presumably to be able to deliver the 747 and 777, which are obviously more popular airplanes, sooner) --Peter Fabian

RSR told at the presentation that they had run into difficulties and set the Dash aside for the meantime (presumably to be able to deliver the 747 and 777, which are obviously more popular airplanes, sooner) It's in the Q&A. The question isn't miked, but as noted above the answer says something like "We want to do it, but I don't know when." Funny about that because I probably won't be buying either the 777 or the 747. I just fly so little long haul it's not really worth it to me. The existing 747 (dated and all) is fine by me for when I get that itch. More generally, a written update from the company on the schedule would be nice. Vaguely I think the plan is for the 777, the DC-6 this year, then the 747 2.0 and then who knows. Some general ideas of order/when to expect would be nice. Doug Orvis PP-ASEL-IA (USA), Based at KHEF Picture courtesy of Kyle Rodgers

April 13, 201214 yr MAjestic looks gr8, PMDG please don't waste time and compete with it ;) Thinking the excact same thing. Moreover, the info from the support forum (qutoed in #6) states that the level of the product (q200/300 though) will be on par with the JS41. now that's a good product, but systems wise and simulation wise I don't see it on the same level as the NGX or T7. On the other hand Majestic does seem to be very, very deep into the systems... Mas Martin Jensen
April 13, 201214 yr You should see the demonstration of stall videos they had out, they are on the forum somewhere Bryan Richards "People depend so much on automation that they forget how to get the automation to work." B.W.

No waaay... Surely I should believe everything the Internet says :) I agree re Majestic, if they are doing one even deeper than J41 then PMDG should focus on some other plane. Maybe that even part of the reason they are holding off, to see where to best put their resources.
