Installing 32bit airports into 64

Featured Replies

I have 2 Blueprint airports KCLE and KDAL for win 7 32 (don't ask) and I have been trying to get 64 bit installers from Blueprint for a couple of weeks now. No response from them, not even a hi. Anyway, I do not know anyone with 32 bit windows 7 and was wondering if there was any way to extract these files. From what I understand it is only the extraction part of the install that is not compatible, is that correct.

According to the Blueprint website all I have to do is email request with my order number for these installers and they send them but aparently they are all talk and do not stand by their products at all. Last time I ever do business with them.

Thanks allot.

Marc Lynn

Not sure why you need 64 bit installers. FSX is a 32 bit application. All 32 bit applications will be installed in the 32 bit folder (Program Files (x86)). In what format are the airports in? Are they zipped or does it have a .exe extension? Zipped files can be extracted by right clicking on the file and selecting extract. A file with .exe extension is opened by double clicking on it and it and files will be extracted and the application installed.

Best regards,

Jim

The installer says "KCLE v1.2.2 for FSX cannot be installed on windows Vista/64"

I have windows 7 64 and apparently their website says only for windows 32 but all these airports have been upgraded to 64 by blueprint. I bought them at The Flight Sim Store and all they had were the 32 bit versions. I do not know why this company would not upgrade their airports from blueprint to be compatible with 64 bit since that is what most people have now. Anyway, The flight sim store will not respond to any of my requests nor will Blueprint for 2 weeks now. So I am stuck with these 2 airports and cannot do anything with them. It is my own fault but at least a hi from them would be good.

I don't think there is such a thing as a 64-bit airport.

I suspect the installers have anti-piracy protection which is why they come in 32-bit and 64-bit versions. However that's no excuse for not providing an updated inmstaller to valid customers.

I too had that but was able to install to FSX without any bother.

how did you do that?

"Smells dodgy. "

I have a valid copy, I am not a pirate. I can provide a order number, not that it would matter to you or to anyone else but the people I am trying in vain to get even a reply from.

Marc Lynn

Smells dodgy.

Might I suggest not commenting on things you don't know?

Unfortunately Blueprint has these installers and the only thing you can do is email them hoping they respond with a download link to an updated installer.

I got burned a while back my captain sim and Arian Designs even further back and this smells familiar to me. I have sent the 4th email now in 14 days. I hate to vent on the forum and it's only 30 bucks or so but it just drives me nuts. I have started a list of these people, I call it schisters list.

Marc Lynn

By dodgy I mean the need for 32bit and 64bit installers, there is absolutely no need for this.

Ditto :LMAO:

So what happenes when you try to run the installer and point it to your FSX installation? Like VC10man noted in his post above he was able to install without a problem. I think that probably the majority of the community are running 64bit systems and pretty much any scenery product can be installed into FSX using its default installer even if it states its only for a 32bit system.

This question was once raised on the FSDT form since their products once or still do mention 32 bit systems, when in fact they develope their products on 64 bit OS'es. Give it a shot, worst case it wont work and you can try another solution like installing it to a fake FSX folder on another rig then copying it over to the correct folders on your FSX computer and you will be done. If your worried about it, just back up your scenery.cfg prior to the install in case it fails but still writes to it, however from memory, BluePrints installers dont write any entries to the scenery.cfg and require you to enter the scenery layer once you launch FSX and go into the scenery menu to add it.

Exactly. The FSX installer works on both 32-bit and 64-bit as do all the others i've ever used, so why shouldn't Blueprint's? It seems it's a "fools or knaves" situation.

The installer says "KCLE v1.2.2 for FSX cannot be installed on windows Vista/64"

Have you tried using compatibility mode to tell the installer you're running XP? That might well be all it needs. (Also make sure 'run as administrator' is used)

Does that help?

How can I obtain 64-bit compatible versions of the installers for your older products including KCLE, KRDU, KDAL, KIAD, KSDF, KMSP and KIND?

The installers for all our sceneries purchased from this web site are now 64-bit compatible as downloaded from BMT Micro Inc. If you purchased one of our older products including KCLE, KDAL, KRDU, KIAD, KSDF, KMSP and KIND from this site after April of 2008, all you have to do is download the file from BMT using the download information provided after the purchase. We will continue to provide 64-bit compatible installers to customers that purchased those sceneries before April of 2008 as well as to those that purchased the sceneries from other web sites.

Please send us all relevant purchase information (including the store where you purchased the product, the purchase order number, and the purchase date) for each product you own to [email protected] and a download link will be provided.

Please note that all patches and upgrades published in our web site are now 64-bit compatible. Just follow the "Downloads" link above or click here to download the new upgrade installers.
