Possible 1R Door Error

Featured Replies

Hi. I've noticed that the 1R-door handle on the NGX appears to be located on a lower position when compared to the 1R-door-handle position on an actual NG 737. In the following attatchments, I've used a green line to compare the door-handle positions with the passenger windows. I would like to know if this is an actual error because the displacement seems pretty obvious.

Like before, this is not an argument thread, a flame thread, a "nitpicking" thread, or a "rivet-counting" thread; this is a thread meant for the sole purpose of pointing out a potential external-model error and discussing it in the hopes of determining whether or not it is an actual error that can be fixed for the next service pack.

Thank you.

Ken, (god that's weird for me to type...)

The space between the handle does seem to be a bit larger than it should be. But maybe it's just the angle playing tricks?

Oh my god! We should all demand refunds immediately!!

But seriously, they can't get everything right. the fact that this was even brought up is beyond me. It's not going to be fixed, trust me.

Your perceptive is skewed. Look at the top of the door!

That wouldn't change the relative distances of the handle to the hinges. In the bottom pic, the handle is halfway, in the top pic, the handle is 1/3 from the bottom hinge to the top hinge.

Matt Cee

I think he is right. The handle is misplaced. Maybe it's done on purpose, to avoid confusion between the PMDG and the real thing?? :Nerd:   Just%20Kidding.gif

The handle and the window are, more or less, located on the same geometric plane, so the viewing angle, in this case, will not affect the relative distance bewteen the handle and the window. If the handle were sitcking out one foot away from the door (i.e., the geometric planes of the handle and the window are one foot apart), then, depending on the viewing angle, it may look like the handle is located above the fuselage or below the fuselage or covering the cockpit windows, etc.

This is why there are people like me that want to help and improve.

Some people strive for improvement; this is not a groundbreaking concept.

If this is true, then this is rather disappointing. It appears as though that PMDG put in a lot of work to make this product as good as it is. Why not try to help them to make it a little better?

Its just something that is so miniscule to the big picture. Wouldn't you rather the team spend time making new products like 777 or correcting more important fixes than a door handle that has 6 inches too low. I'll give you credit for having an eye for detail but I just feel like people are always nit picking about something. "The back lighting isnt good enough", "the updated MCP doesnt look right". The fact that the NGx can do half the things she can do is ground breaking the FSX world. Go fly her rather than worrying about a door handle being 6 inches to low or whatever.

I'm wondering, Ken, if there are just different types and models of doors. Take a look at this image: http://skylinenewsro...737_800_1HI.jpg - The handle is towards the TOP of the geometric plane the window sits at (above the one in your picture above).

Again, another 737 with the handle above the mid-point of the window: http://www.tuifly.co...Pressefoto2.JPG

This Ryanair bird has the handle at the same elevation as the one in your picture: http://upload.wikime...sinzuschlag.jpg

My guess is that there are different make and models of doors that Boeing has used for their 737's. The one PMDG modeled just happens to be the one we're using for all repaints.

Take-offs are optional, landings are mandatory.
The only time you have too much fuel is when you're on fire.
To make a small fortune in aviation you must start with a large fortune.

There's nothing less important than the runway behind you and the altitude above you.
It's better to be on the ground wishing you were in the air, than in the air wishing you were on the ground.

I think that 1L and 1R doors are asymmetric in real thing.

The place of the window and handle differs from 1L to 1R. On the 1L door, the window and handle are higher up than on 1R.

This was done to account for a better view in the jetbridge, if I remember correctly.

The 1R (and 2R) doors are also quite a bit smaller than the 1L and 2L doors. (but that has been the case for every Boeing since the 707).

Oh. I always figured they were at the same elevation, just 1L was further forward than 1R. If that's not the case, then retract what I just said. :P

I understand where you're coming from, but "important" and "miniscule" are relative terms. I would rather try to help the team to improve their products as much as possible. The people that are "always nitpicking" are the people want to try to make improvements. Sometimes they're wrong, sometimes they're right. At least they tried to help.

There is no need to get frustrated over this.

Your first two pictures show the 1L door. The handles on the 1L doors are higher than on the 1R doors. Your third picture shows the handle in the same position as the handle in my second picture, so the handle on the NGX is still at a lower position.

i cant see what the difference if the door handle is lower than the other you can see it from the cockpit, beside you ever thought the passengers windows could be higher than the other side lol anyway kriva has given the best explanation of the differance

The handle is not aligned, but, I think, it is something that needs to modify all exixting liveries to be fixed. So, if someone wants it better, I think he can modify the livery by itself.
