May 2, 201214 yr Does anyone know of any 747 Classics for FSX? perhaps in development? I am surprised it's taking this long for someone to create one.. Marlon Carter - AVSIM Reviewer
May 2, 201214 yr I was hoping for CS to pick that one sooner or later. We've been suggesting it more than once and, no doubt, CS is very good on the steam gauge planes and adding some atmosphere to them. Current releases? Not that I'm aware of.
May 2, 201214 yr CLS make the 747-200/300 for FS9/FSX, so it isn't a native FSX model (yet), but it is due for an update. It is pretty good, with freighter expansions available for it too. See here for details of the forthcoming update, these are on the JF page, since JF sells the CLS 747: http://justflight.com/product/747-200-300-series-v1-5-upgrade Aerosim's FS9 747-100 can be ported over to FSX with some difficulty (i.e. you will need to swap out some instruments with a panel edit in order to get it to work). May 2, 201214 yr Thanks for the HU re the CLS model Al, have had the old model for awhile, lookn fwd to this FSX patch Dean Stringer
May 2, 201214 yr I found that you can download the Cargo expansion and all of the other "commercial" expansions for the CLS from their website. Just Flight charges about $8 for the exact same thing, does anyone know why? Thanks, Kevin L
May 2, 201214 yr Presumably because they are a business, although personally, I quite like the support JF offer, which is usually very swift, and so I rate that as one reason to get it from them, which in fact is what I did. That's not a dig at CLS, I just prefer the way JF is set up, for example with the benefit that all your orders able to be re-downloaded any time you like, even years later if you wish. I am happy to pay for that privelege, and I also like the reward points system that JF has. But having said all that, if you want to get it from CLS, then there is nothing stopping you from doing so. May 2, 201214 yr No, what I meant was that CLS offers everything (except the base pack) for free in the downloads section of their website. Thanks, Kevin L
May 2, 201214 yr Author I am looking for something that will replace the RFP 747. So with respect to systems simulation....how does CLS measure up? Marlon Carter - AVSIM Reviewer
May 2, 201214 yr I am looking for something that will replace the RFP 747. So with respect to systems simulation....how does CLS measure up? Not even close to RFP, unfortunately....very "light" on systems by comparison. Jim BlakeCaptain, SWA Virtual AirlinesReal World C172 Pilot, AOPA #06034701
May 2, 201214 yr There's a 747 classic project going on for X-plane by Leading Edge Simulations, but sadly not FSX. http://www.fsdevelop...ad.php?t=232476
May 3, 201214 yr Here is a link to a package that should make the RFP 747 compatible with FSX. http://fsdownload.com/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=2153 The main RFP 747 package itself is freeware now. You can download it at Flightsim . May 3, 201214 yr Here is a link to a package that should make the RFP 747 compatible with FSX. http://fsdownload.co...rticle&sid=2153 It does, but... It replaces almost all of the 2d panels with 737 panels, as such you lose access to most of the systems that RFP provided, and it probably makes it really difficult to fly if you only use mouse control over throttle levers - since the panels are now all 2 engine based. I'm sure it's possible to repair the original RFPs with working guages (which is after all pretty much all that stops the RFP 747 from working properly in fsx), and end up with something that is usable AND retains its 747-ness
May 3, 201214 yr Author Does anyone know what Chris Koegler is up to these days? is he still part of the FS community? is he continuing to work on the 747? Marlon Carter - AVSIM Reviewer
