control alt delete

Featured Replies

This is worth a mention for better performance

control alt delete brings up task master

click applications tab and have a look what is currently running on your system, you will be very surprised at whats in there ...

click on the non essentials and click the " end task tab" and free up some memory just before you take off .

I think its pretty safe as they just stop running untill you finish the flight and then just reboot. If you just left the sim and the required add on alive that should be okay

please don't do as I do unless your sure, maybe a guru nerd can comment :Nerd:

I only leave fsx and add ons I use in flight

Personally if you don't know what is what i would certainly not advise this..... not being funny

the best thing to do is to find the fsx.exe in the process tab right click it and set priority to high play safe....

Of course if you do know what to end then yeah i agree...

Try IObit "Gamebooster". I think it is freeware. Search using Google. I run it before I activate FSX and it closes down all unnecessary applications including the myriad of unnecessary "windows" programs so that I have maximum CPU and memory for FSX. It has the option of tweaking to keep special addon programs running at your discretion. Avoids the uncertainty of trying to do it yourself thru TaskManager. Also delete programs in "prefetch" folder.

That sort of performance boosting software can also cause issues by killing services that need to be left alone.

I use it too but not sure about the freeware as I had to purchase mine which I think was bundled as part of the IObit Advanced Care package.

On Windows 7 it's [Ctrl]+[shift]+[Esc].

Unless your OS runs tons or processes it maybe is somewhat useful. Otherwise don't think it's necessary.

No it's not. Control Tab does the same thing as Ctrl Shift Escape. Control Alt Delete still opens the Windows Security thing.

I meant that [Ctrl]+[shift]+[Esc] bypasses all that fancy stuff and just launches Windows Task Manager.

Ctrl Shift Esc is and always has been the direct way of opening up the Task manager scince it was introduced in NT4. Ctrl Alt Del is an indirect way. In fact it depends on how you have your system setup on what Ctrl Alt Del actualy does. You can also right click your Taskbar and select Start Task Manager form the pop-up menu.
