May 20, 201214 yr Welcome to the MCE fan club! It is strange about the NGX. I dont have any problems with it. At what point does it crash? Is it when you select the actual NGX checklist and it scans your aircraft? Will Reynolds Flight Sim Addict
May 20, 201214 yr The NGX is one of two birds of mine which seems to get FSX way closer to the magic VAS edge than others. So while I couldn't rule out that MCE does play a role, I'd say that the major influence happens on the bird itself. However, maybe worth keeping an eye on if it happens again. That FO is super versatile, not? You can even ask him for ILS frequencies and things. Good catch on the weather program interaction. But he does read some close stations from FSX directly which should work either way.
May 20, 201214 yr Yeah I did all the voice training and still struggles to pick up my commands might have to reinstall and start again As Coolp says, first thing to do is use Windows Recorder (or whatever it's called) to record your voice, play it back and check the sound quality is good. On my previous system I found something was causing low level interference on the mic input. I eventually fixed it by moving to a USB headset plugged into a separate powered hub. And as others have said, a good quality mike helps a lot. There are a few basic questions too - what is your environment like ? If you've got someone else watching TV in the same room, (real) aircraft flying over the house, loud traffic noise etc etc, then this will all interfere with your voice input. Noise suppressing mikes can only filter out so much. Which raises anothjer question - where are you playing you a/c sounds ? If they're coming out of a couple speakers close to you, and are particularly loud, then they can interfere too. I run all my sounds through a headset, mainly out of respect for the neighbours, but it also means that there is no extraneous noise when I speak. When you do your speech training, you need to speak as far as possible in the same way (and the same environment) as you will when you're flying. This sounds obvious, but because I fly mainly noisy warbirds, I found I was shouting when flying, whereas my speech training was done at much lower level. This had an effect. It's also best to start simple - don't attempt long requests/acknowledgements until you've got shorter ones working. One last thing - I'm assuming you're running W7. I ran XP for a long while, and the folks at FS++ kept telling me that the XP speech engine wasn't nearly as good as the one in W7. I recently switched to W7 and boy, were they right ! Different experience. And do talk to the FS++ support folks. They are incredibly responsive and helpful, and there are any number of configuration options in MCE and Windows speech recognition (not all documented) which may help.
May 20, 201214 yr Author Commercial Member What I found was have one of those, 'covers' over the mike itself made it better Not sure what they are called, but that made a lot of difference. Its made of foam Clive Joy
May 20, 201214 yr I've been looking at this addon and appreciate the thread. Wish they would come out with an ATC only module at a lower price. This seems great but all the ATC addons are quite expensive. I'll probably get it eventually--I've downloaded the demo but am hesitant to try it as I'll probably want to buy it when i can't justify the purchase right now. Randall Personally I think it's worth the money for the ATC feature alone (which must be true, since that's all I use it for !) Just off now to polish one of my Porsches
May 20, 201214 yr Author Commercial Member I.m currently sat at PAKT and VAS is 3.5. This is with ORBX stuff running also Right, where's Roberto !! Clive Joy
May 20, 201214 yr I use MCE heavily with scripts, plus active sky, fsbuild, ezca, GSX and a few others, and never hit trouble with vas. Have never used MCE with atc as i mainly fly on vatsim, but it hear it is a good feature. Will Reynolds Flight Sim Addict
May 20, 201214 yr might be the sound from my speaker interfering with the headset i will run it all through the headset and test again. http://fs2crew.com/banners/Banner_FS2Crew_MJC_Supporter.png Wayne HART
May 20, 201214 yr Author Commercial Member Hopefully, new day, new restart of PC everything should be OK. ....aaah, Roberto you're here; where's my catering trucks Just need to get into these 'scripts', whatever they are! Clive Joy
May 20, 201214 yr Have never used MCE with atc as i mainly fly on vatsim, but it hear it is a good feature. One of the best things about the MCE ATC feature which is rarely mentioned is the ability to dial up frequencies using the VC radio stack or (better) an external radio module (e.g. GoFlight). When you do this, MCE goes off and searches for the nearest airport with that frequency and connects you. Brilliant !
May 20, 201214 yr Alpha117, In the documents you will find a "flow" for the NGX and one for the MD11, the one for the MD 11 is called MD11 MCE v5. These are samples created with voxscript. Print out the documents and follow them to the letter, once you get the idea of what you can achieve with voxscripts, have a go yourself, it is great fun and you end up customising the procedures to suit yourself. Let me know if you need a hand with them. Will Reynolds Flight Sim Addict
May 20, 201214 yr Author Commercial Member Thanks Will Will have a look at them Clive Will, Yea, seen the NGX one and I did try it, but got a bit confused(age thing!) Where it says ..call for 'Pre Flight Overhead Procedure' (in Purple). I said that but nothing happened. Did I miss something? Clive Clive Joy
May 20, 201214 yr Clive, on the MCE control Panel, make sure the aircraft selected is the 737-800 Go into the checklist tab, and click "change", from the list, select the "PMDG_737_NGX" and it will scan the aircraft, them it should work. Remember to do this for any aircraft, it has too many variations to work with. Once you assign it you dont have to do it again Ah, and also, remember to set aircraft to cold and dark, turn on battery and connect external power. You can change all these options yourself later and even get battery and ground power added to the script! Will Reynolds Flight Sim Addict
May 20, 201214 yr Author Commercial Member Roger that, Going to test now So, this B737NGX MCE Flow document is not the script? It's just so you can follow the flow. From this you create a 'script'. Is that right ;-) Clive Joy
May 20, 201214 yr I think we should have an unofficial MCE section on avsim? Any ideas? What's the connect external power Bill? http://fs2crew.com/banners/Banner_FS2Crew_MJC_Supporter.png Wayne HART
