May 18, 201214 yr The whole "a real man doesn't go around" thing is wrong. I do hope that a pilot worth his/her salt puts their egos aside, goes around and shoot the approach again. A go-around may take a few extra minutes but look at it this way. You, your crew, and your passengers go home to their families and there is no multi-million dollar smoking hole in the ground. Very nice. Gives a good visual to the part in manual which says "Touchdown may occur if G/A commenced under xy feet". But a good call, G/A might be attempted at any time all the way down to opening your reversers. --Peter Fabian
