Opinions on Aerosoft Bronco?

Featured Replies

You might want to add a foot note on your earlier tar-brush posts Stephen for the peeps who dont read to the end :Peace:

IMO Aerosoft Bronco has one of the finest VCs on the market, with a great view to boot, the aircraft moddling is second to none the best I've seen...... the flight model is excellent too and will bite you hard if you ignore it, the only thing I didnt like is the tinny sound...but after listening to some utube vids, thats kinda how it is

I bought mine when it was released a few months ago

It certainly is well done. Thank you for the footnote suggestion.

Kind regards,

My favourite turbo props,

Aerosoft Bronco, best rendition of turbo engines to date, considering FSX awfull limitations. Thanks Guys

Love them all

What remains are a couple of posts here from an admin (some people highly regards their words) pointing out short commings that actaually not exist with a correct installed addon.

Though a "Edit" section has been added to the psosts, some people may still be affected by the remaining text.

Regarding the window shading/reflections - these has been verified by the realworld Bronco demo team pilot. Infact he misses this on most other payware addons ;-)

Flightmodel has also been verified to be very close to it´s realworld counterpart by the same pilot.

Only ground handling isn´t as good as we could wish. Reason is that the real Bronco has too nosewheel steering states - Hydraulic controlled via the rudder pedals or frre castoring requiring assymetrical braking. State is selected by a pushbutton on the stick.

Thsi cannot be simulated in FSX, thus we opted to make a compromise i.e very narrow turn radius, but with manageble ability to steer during the take off run.

Just a note from one of the Bronco developers.

@FinnJ

Much as yours is product to be admired and acquired, and you have every right to defend it, far too often as simmers will well know, more often than not, a much-anticipated add-on has not lived up to the hype preceding such a product.

Thus, I for one, cull others views and experiences, good or bad, before I decide to dip my hand into my wallet, which I am equally entitled to.

Never mind. I missed something.

Lol

Actually I have no problem whith people critisising addons on which I have participated.

I just like to see serious reviews and feed back, especially from people with some pondus i.e forum admins etc..

Feedback from reviewers and admins should only be made if they have put a decent degree of research into the addon. Otherwise they will for certain give false impressions to those who might want to buy that product.

On one occasion a reviewer (actually one I regard as very serious), told that negative part of the Bronco was that it only used FSX default fuel system, which is very far from true. On another occasion the reviewer told that it was allmost impossible to control the Bronco - later it was reveiled that he has setup his throttle axis via FSUIPC in a very wrong way, but the review was written and people read it and gauge the Bronco on that review.

I´m not writing here to to tell that the Bronco is flawless. It´s rather bugfree, but still has some areas that could be enhanced, like sound, ground behaviour, engine responsiveness, etc...

All I want to say is that especially reviewrs and admins should be very carefull openly judging addons that they aren´t sure about are setup correctly on their system.

Aerosoft Bronco is a very well done aircraft. You'll have to be careful setting/calibrating engine controls because with the Bronco X you'll get something totally different from what you normally get in FSX with turboprops (and you will apreciate this too).As for the cockpit reflections, I flew in real life many 'greenhouse cockpits' like Bronco's and for sure this is one of the most realistic representation in FSX.

That's in short, I'm sorry not having to much time for writing right now.

Best regards

Agree 100%, what Stephen said and did above was very very irresponsible/immature for a senior Admin/Staff member, when you wear the 'Staff' badge or 'Admin' badge you should only give your opinon when you have carefully assesed the product.

Shooting your mouth off while wearing 'tags' can have quite a dramatic (commercial) effect

I hope Stephen learns from this and changes his ways, the footnotes added are not enough, those posts should be removed completely and an apology offered to Aerosoft.

agree. faulty posts should be totally crossed out or deleted.

the bronco is an excellent product, regardless of the style of 'flying' you're into or whatever.

Hello Esteemed Board,

FNG here. Here's my initial take FWIW.

I've just spent a few hours in the FAC version of the Bronco X. It was loaded pretty heavily and in one flight I was dealing w/ 18-25k xwind.

It demands your attention all the time. It's not a hands-off flyer, although I was able to get a steady cruise configuration going in normal wind conditions. I did "cheat" and set the elevator_trim_effectiveness to .60 but I do that with all my a/c and it could be a function of my Thrustmaster joystick. I can't say I felt right at home like I did w/ Piglet's PC-7 but I think that it is an usual handling a/c and it will take some time to fly it properly. His OV-10 has some of the same characteristics. One problem for me is I keep pulling the nose up and letting the airspeed drop. This is a function of the miniscule downward sloping nose and immense bubble visibility. If I checked out in one, the first thing I'd do is level off at altitude and take my grease pencil and draw a line on the horizon. Sure you can look at the attitude indicator but as noted in the manual, your tendency is to zoom back for that great view and that makes the flight gauges low and small. As someone has noted you need to keep that airspeed up around 120-150K for good handling. I come from the Citabria world and I have a tendency to slow to 80K in steep turns near the ground. I believe a lot of the perceived handling problems (other than corrupted installs, etc) will iron themselves out with more hours in the aircraft.

The Aerosoft checklist is great. I like the format. I feel the manual could have been a little more complete regarding t/o-lndg-cruise-climb-descent airspeed/power configurations. I would have liked a little more documentation on the weird (to me) ILS gauge and the Gyro Compass. Not being military trained they are a little obscure to me.

Regarding the "phasing" sounds. I too hear it in the real world Bronco videos. I didn't see a prop sync switch and in an all metal structure with little to no soundproofing, I wouldn't doubt there are "beating" resonances from the Garretts.

I don't have rudder pedals (yet) and use a rocker switch for rudder control. I had a heckuva time trying to track straight on the runway @ t/o. I was swerving back and forth. I lowered my rudder sensitivity to almost nil and it helped but didn't eliminate the swerving. Probably just my joystick that's the problem.

I like low and slow mud movers like the 0-2A, Bronco, Mohawk, and the A-10. I had seen them at airshows before but last fall I was coming back from the Sierras and I saw an encampment of firefighters and one of the CDF Broncos at Lake Isabella. It looked like a pretty cool job to me.

All in all I believe Aerosoft has raised the bar with this release.

Relax. Take a breath. Feeling better? There were apologies and this thread was very civil. Don't make it otherwise, please.

And "change his ways?" He's been made admin -- He's doing something right. As far as I'm concerned Stephen one of the kindest members here (no kissass intended). Take a chill pill.

So, Stephen did initially find faults with this add-on which he later corrected is not allowed, just because he wears a 'Badge' to have an opinion in a democratic forum? Eh? So only gushing positives are allowed?

If this is the kind of '######' reaction to Aerosoft getting a thumbs-down, I think I'll give buying this a big miss!

Thanks for the reminders guys, I completely forgot about this one. Will have to pick it up now...
