Hi Folks,

Great looking PIX - except those islands - are they supposed to be squared and blocky ?

Forgive the intrusion. I've only just discovered DCS, well, I tried it out, on the recommendation of a friend, about a year ago and gave up in frustration with the controls maze.

Last week, in a moment of boredom, I downloaded it again. This time my attitude was different and I approached the control assignments tasks in a more measured way. No so hard when a little common sense is applied.

Starting the TL-P51 proved to be a challenge but after watching about 180 videos on the subject I got it nailed!

Three days later I bought the Spitfire. This one DID turn my brain inside out and that was just the taxiing! Patting your head and rubbing your stomach at the same time is Soo easy compared.

I'm now at the stage when I can start it with no problems, I can taxi like a taxiing fool. Taking off is still a work in progress as I lurch into the air like a one winged turkey!

Landing? I've got it down to only doing very gentle ground loops. Well chuffed. Anyone who thinks A2A's T-6 is a handful should try the DCS Spitfire!

To sum up, I'm hooked! DCS, as far as I can see is about FLYING not gawping at scenery.

Oh and flying online is a delight. In formation with the original recommend-er was as smooth as..as.. a very smooth thing.

The only downside is that I regret giving up on it so easily first time round.

Hi Ron,

Similar experience - I gravitated towards the F-86 to keep it relatively simple - dare I say - the sensations of flight seem almost better than P3D... I need to take the plunge on the WWII stuff and try MP... Try the Huey - from what I gather from others it is the most realistic simulation of helicopter flight out there...

Enjoy...

The terrifying thing is it has opened up a whole new avenue of excessive spending!

Do I hear the sound of suction? Let me get you straight, I spend ~$500 on VR and STILL lash out on content?

I'll pass on the VR thanks.

I tried DCS years ago.....said no......and now I own just about every module.....one for every flavour....the Mig21, the F-5...fantastic fast flying....the Huey, the Mi8, Gazelle....possibilities for simulation in them are seemingly endless.

Then we have the gun slingers....the F-86, Mig15, all the way back to the Spit and Me109.....wow...the learning curve on each is dedicated to learning to fly it, and the rewards are fabulous.

Am hooked!

I'm starting to think you hold HTC or Oculus Rift stock.

None of this is helping me land this Spitfire without writing it off!
