August 2, 201213 yr Hello Everyone! Other than roasting away in this heat, and watching my grass die a very slow death, I have not done much in the way of flying. This month I am planning a trip to Waukegan, IL to their air show. The Canadian Snowbirds are scheduled to perform. I haven't seen since I was a teen in Colorado Springs. Then the next weekend, I am going to the Quad City Air Show. They will have the USAF Thunderbirds. Going to get some 'eyes (if not hands) on' airplane time. Roman, remember, meet me in Waukegan and you get a jar of my delicious home-canned pickles! If anyone is planning to go to these airshows, let me know, wouldn't mind putting some faces to all of our names (and I will bring more pickles!).
August 3, 201213 yr Author Ohh I would love to go but too busy this summer unfortunately.. I think we should schedule a RTW get together at some point.. :)
August 5, 201213 yr Been blowing things up on DCS-A10C - and racing GT Legends here. KBJC AMD 3900 / RTX 2060 Pro
August 6, 201213 yr Buzz, That looks great! Is it a remake or upgrade of the 'ol "Rally Trophy"? (FUN STUFF! RT had the Ford Cortina ) It sure does look familiar. Maybe time to get a wheel again and load up the dusty disks.. RT, I believe, had maybe the best dynamics I've ever experienced , GTR wasn't bad either. Sorry man.. missed you on the "Team Cub Pic".  ( As I slap myself in the head,,, Another team shot is in order... ) Btw does anyone know of a newer wheel with "progressive/linear/split axis" shift paddles on the wheel? (I believe nonexistent now) Travis, Sorry, will not make it to Waukegan.. The tranny on my 'pile o ######' finally gave it's last hurrah during EAA. Made it back from Saturday, just barely.. I knew it was going, topped it off that morning & by the time I got back from KOSH I had about a qt & 1/2 left (of 4) to keep it running. Just got done forking over 900 drakmas with a 50/50 chance that it would work, it didn't, different story... But damnit the engine has never run greater! That's how it goes just before death. She's now only good for Church, Groceries & an occasional tavern run now.. Less than 10 miles is the limit LOL! (VFR) Save those pickles man! They get better w/ age :-) Eamonn, Not a bad call, a little dust off may be in order! :-) (dust=cobwebs) Besides, i must get all caught up w/ the AVSIM TS stuff. Never got into it after last year. I hope everyone is having a good Summer, & Mike, a good Winter too. Wish we all could've met at KOSH together, that would be the bomb! ... Another time, perhaps. My EAA hangover is gone now :-( Roman FS RTWR SHRS F-111 JoinFS Little Navmap
August 18, 201213 yr Roman - This is GT Legends, by Simbin which made GTR. It is a simulation of the modern FIA Historic races. It is a lot of fun. Decent physics. Racing the old cars is fun. Not sure about the wheel. I use an logitech MOMO wheel, but they have one now with a clutch. On the flying side, just trying to learn DCS-A10C. It is a complex military sim. I need to avoid the SAMS and AAA more often. I need to get FSX installed on my i5 system, but think I want to invest in a solid state drive first. KBJC AMD 3900 / RTX 2060 Pro
August 19, 201213 yr Hello again Eamonn (and everyone else)! Summer's been quite nice apart from the first two weeks of my holiday but at least I've had several opportunities to put my instrument rating to good use. ;) Apart from that I've got myself a new toy so not much time has been spent in front of the computer. Haven't even started up FSX for a couple of months now. Still looking forward to race practice. :) Rolf Lindbom
September 12, 201213 yr Hi Guys No flying, been busy cruising and otherwise enjoying my vacation And, of course, enjoying the beautiful, beautiful scenery of Skyrim :) BRGDS Sven
September 14, 201213 yr Author Hey Sven, good to hear.. Hope you can join us next year for another exciting RTW race..
September 16, 201213 yr Hi guys, Long past time I posted something on this thread. It's been a busy summer, our son (future co-pilot?) was born in May, then there was this minor sporting event here in London that we were lucky enough to get some tickets for. FS-wise I'm flying regularly (or as regularly as my work travel schedule allows), my big project at the moment is converting from FS9 to FSX (what kept you, I heard you ask!) and finding all kinds of new goodies. The highlight is definitely the Orbx scenery (I'm also now wondering what kept me?!) I am totally blown away by the PNW, especially as I used to live in Oregon so I'm flying some very familiar territory. I'm eagerly awaiting the Orbx UK scenery, and I want to get something PMDG in the not too distant future, wondering whether to go for the 777 or wait a bit longer for the new 747. Hope everyone's well and looking forward to RTWR 2013! Nick
September 18, 201213 yr Hey Nick , many congratulations dad Welcome to FSX , you should definately join the list of us waiting for the 777 and also the upcoming FSLabs A320 looks a definate too . ORBX is truly stunning and great fun to do some group bush flying in these scenery areas . Jeff introduced me to a great bunch of guys over at the ORBX PNW flying club http://www.orbxsystems.com/forum/forum/124-the-pnw-flying-club-fbo-khqm/ Its great fun . September 22, 201213 yr Congrats Nick. Just fiddling with my setup here. Still running my own TS3 server. Not too sure I will make the race. Sure wish they could delay it a week for me. I will be at a Presidents Day Hockey Tournament in Las Vegas the Weekend of the 16th and 17th. maybe that is too close to Valentines for the race committee. Don't people have nice weekend planned with someone special the immediate weekend following Valentines? Please? KBJC AMD 3900 / RTX 2060 Pro
September 23, 201213 yr You'll be sorely missed, Buzz. Maybe you'll make it for the one or two days after the weekend. Mike Beckwith
September 23, 201213 yr Author Ya for sure.. Seems we loosing more people each year.. I hope thats not a bad sign.. I look forward to this event each year..
September 23, 201213 yr I look forward to this each year as well. It is always great fun. See how it all shakes out. KBJC AMD 3900 / RTX 2060 Pro
October 4, 201213 yr Hey, gang, More or less a slow summer here. The wife and I flew over to Ireland for the Navy-Notre Dame 'Emerald Isle Classic' in Dublin around Labor Day. It was a mini-reunion tour trip for my Academy class and a real blast catching up with old friends. We really enjoyed ourselves. Wonderful hospitality, good food, and the Guinness really does taste better over there. I've been dabbling in Forza 4 on the XBox, and have discovered the insanity that is Minecraft. Take my advice - don't download it. It's highly addictive! Haven't done too much simming since the race. I think it would be great to do a team-related event to start dusting off the cobwebs.
