777-200LR's auxiliary fuel tanks

Featured Replies

Will we have the option of adding and removing the extra fuel tanks from the 777-200LR?

-Matt Chandler

I highly doubt it, that's one of the key parts that makes it the LR. Just don't put fuel in it if you don't want to use it.

If you can add or remove the tanks in RW then I'm sure they'll include the option.

If not then I'll eat my hat.

I'm going with Mitch on this one. An LR is longer range due to many extras over the -200 to include the optimized wing and extra fuel tanks.

Not all LRs have extra fuel tanks, just bigger ones integral to the wing.

Challenge accepted! :-D

mmmm I'dont know if this can be an option or a model cause what happens if you remove the tanks in middle flight? probably you will not get to your destination.

I'dont think it's a simple on off option.

Gents-

mmmm.... All of the above answers are non-factual. Especially the one about "bigger" tanks.

Okay- there are three three options you can choose when having your LR built out at Boeing:

1) No AUX fuel.

2) One AUX fuel tank.

3) Three AUX fuel tanks.

In the PMDG 777 you can select your desired variant via the options process in the FMS. Each of these configurations also comes with its own unique controlling logic for fuel/CG management, especially during jettison.... Yes- it is all modeled....

Amen to that! Looking forward to the long Air Canada flights, does anyone have any technical info for the Air Canada 777 fleet?

Brandon,

No, but I remember someone reputable saying that there has not been a 200LR ordered with auxiliary tanks because they take up room in the cargo hold, which airlines would like to use for revenue.

Whatever Delta has in theirs is what I will go with. I do wonder if there are any weight considerations in terms of number of pax/cargo allowed if using the one with three AUX tanks. I am sure there is, I just wonder how much of a restriction.

I don't think anyone has ordered this option. It was offered to BA and QF to go LHR-SYD direct, but it would require a stop on the return. Someone else can correct me if I'm wrong.

BA & QF don't have 777-200LR's.
