Carenado, what's my problem?

Hey guys, I'm a little ignorant about the FDE that is talked about. I understand it means Flight Dynamics Editor but Is this something that is designed into a particular aircraft by default or is it some kind of update/addon that is installed after purchase?

That's the flight dynamics envelope (I guess that's one explanation). How it feels and flies in the sim.

This was a bit of trouble on the older Carenado releases, but since Bernt Stolle took over, it improved a lot. Imagine a proper set if parameters in the aircraft.cfg and air file.

You are spot on, Howard. The use of the abbreviations sometimes lets us go blind and think that everybody understands them by design. JSUK (just so you know  ).

I dont have the 182Q, but if Bernt is working on an FDE, I may consider it.

Let me know how the final version works out and then I will decide!

Thanks for the offer.

I think it's done. The FDE is much improved and I don't, personally, see how it could be improved much further. It flies pretty much like a RW 182. So if fixed gear, high wing, constant speed prop floats your boat, it's a great airplane. I've added the RealityXP GNS530 to mine and changed out some of the avionics. Planning to upgrade the gauges at some point.

Same here. Such a shame. The 210 is one of the best looking aircraft I have, but the FDE (especially the over sensitive pitch) just spoils it. I was hoping Bernt was going to be able to work his magic on this one but it was not meant to be................

+1. I feel precisely the same way. It would have been a good instrument trainer.

Thanks for the explanation CoolP, appreciated. So if I were going to buy a carenado plane and wanted it to be specifically designed with Bernt Stolle, how would I know which planes had his stamp on and which didn't?

Greg has posted a nice link where Bernt lists all models. http://www.sim-outho...hp/t-68931.html

Here's a complete list (I think) of the FDEs.

Free updates (FSX):

Carenado C185 / V35 / F33 / C208 / (B58 stall fix only)

Rick Pipers Chipmunk

Alabeo Su26

FR Super Cub

Commercial (FSX):

Carenado C188 / C337 / A36 / C90 / PA46

Alabeo Extra 300 / C188

KCFS SportStar / Seabee

FR Bf109K, Super Cub Ultra

Milviz C310 / B55 / T-38 / F-15

Commercial (x-plane):

Carenado C208

While I think that a sim's FDE impression also is affected by personal preferences, I'd say that those planes should come in nicely when it comes to a good and reasonable feel. Well, as far as the sim allows.

Some folks also compared charted to sim fuel flow values and things, and they also showed that Bernt did a good job.

How did your B55 journey end by the way? I saw the thread about the fps problems. Sorry I couldn't help, she does fine here. I really like that plane.

FWIW, The FR Super Cub Ultra is a favourite of mine...........

Thanks matey. Sure, Milviz very kindly offered a refund, so sadly I deleted the plane from my HD. I'm sure some guys must be shaking their head, it wasn't just the poor performance but when the frames dropped to about 20/21 then it became quite stuttery too. It really was very odd how it was substantially harder hitting on performance than any other aircraft in my hangar. But nevertheless Milviz has created a wonderful plane and I take my hat off to him, but on my system it was not to be...

I was browsing the forums earlier today, found this thread and must share an interesting coincedence. FIrst of all thanks to everyone for the interesting dialogue and recommendations since I share the sentiments here on the "feel" of an aircraft in my flight sim. Based on the recommendations I decided to purchase the Milviz B55 later in the evening. Luckily for me I checked my email first and found an offer from Just Flight for 50% all Milviz addons through September 4! I immediately logged into the site, selected my purchase and applied the discount code MILVIZ50. I also had a few JF credits so my total cost for the B55 was $12.92! Based on the reviews in this thread this price is a steal on this aircraft and I urge anyone interested to take advantage of this offer. I considered adding the 310 as well but need to stick to my budget <sigh>.

Anyway, I just wanted to share this information - apologies if it was mentioned elsewhere. Thanks again and I am off to install and check it out for myself. As someone who dates back to the sublogic days (as well as Sierra PP, Fly! and all versions of MSFS - guess I am showing my age) I have recently taken time to immerse myself in flight sim again and enjoying it now more than ever.

Take care all,

Paul

And as someone who also dates to the sub logic days in my case pre rw flying days-thanks to Carenado who with their f33a and vtail have made an aircraft that is the closest thing I can get to 11 years of memories of rw on a computer-and thanks to Milvitz who did my exact plane for the last 7 years ....how far we have come from the sub logic days and how proud and nostalgic am I that I can " fly" realistic renditions of my past life on a motionless computer and yet feel like I am there...

We are all extremely lucky ..

WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE-the best Flight Sim!

Hi Glenn, well, I've just installed RXP530 and yes, the frames have improved!

Howard, did you do something else except replacing the panel-file that comes with the package, when you got the RXP530 up and runnning in the B55? When I do that and choose the B55, FSX crashes for me. Reverting back to the "original" panel-file fixes it for me. Apart from that it's indeed a lovely plane and with the current price, well even the normal price, it's a steal! Definitely one of the best VC's, dare I say even better than Realair duke and Lancair?!

Hi Krister, no, I just installed the RXP. In fact the frames were virtually identical with or without the RXP! I think there was maybe a frame difference, but that's all.

Sorry to hear about that outcome when it comes to actually missing the plane. Well, that's what the refund thingy is for, right you are.

Geez, Howard, finding a plane for you isn't what I would call easy.

Hi Howard,

You have a significantly better system than mine and I'm getting very close to 30 with the RXP unit (I'd been getting 24-25 before I installed it. Perhaps, you have more demanding settings elsewhere, though. Traffic, water effects and such.

Sure Gregg, in fairness, the low frames were simply checked against the rest of my aircraft. The test scenario which I use for all my testing, is at Orbx's Anacortes airfield, sat at the end of the runway in the VC with AG set at very dense. I use the Realair Duke as my comparative aircraft and that is usually around 27 frames and extremely smooth. So I'm sure you can understand my concern when I see, with exactly the same test scenario, framerates of around 22! A massive difference in my opinion. It's obviously something to do with my setup, what, I don't know...
