August 22, 201213 yr Greetings Geof, I actually remember some communications with you sometime around 2000 or so in some of the forums. I also recall downloading a MSFS replica of your plane and many enjoyable flights with the aircraft. Do you still have the same real world plane and is there an FSX version of the one I downloaded those many years ago? I am getting a bit nostalgic now but those were exciting times with MSFS and ProPilot. It is great to hear from you and hope all is well. Paul
August 22, 201213 yr Sure Gregg, in fairness, the low frames were simply checked against the rest of my aircraft. The test scenario which I use for all my testing, is at Orbx's Anacortes airfield, sat at the end of the runway in the VC with AG set at very dense. I use the Realair Duke as my comparative aircraft and that is usually around 27 frames and extremely smooth. So I'm sure you can understand my concern when I see, with exactly the same test scenario, framerates of around 22! Here's another one of those classic "amazed at the performance of FSX on different systems" things. I WISH I could get 22 FPS at Anacortes with ANY plane. My modest system just doesn't clear the Anacortes performance bar. Even with all optional features turned off it's the only Orbx airport I own that remains essentially unusable. By contrast (and keep in mind I'm not a framerate counter so this isn't precise) the B55 comes in pretty much middle of the pack in terms of performance for me, very much on par with planes like the Turbine Duke. I do have both GPS's replaced with the RXP 530 and 430, so that may play in here, of course. Go figgur. :-) Sorry you had to give up on the B55, Howard. It's a fun plane. Scott

Hey Scott, It could easily be my settings. I have my water settings turned down (high 1.0 if I remember)...don't get many thrills at all from seeing the waves. Shadows off as well...though I like them. GA is low, commercial is higher (but I do have cars turned up :P...I'd love to see a good traffic jam...LOL.) I don't have Anacortes. August 23, 201213 yr For the most part, I've got things dialed in and nicely balanced in FSX but there's some strange vortex around Anacortes that defeats me. I have no problems at Orbx' nearby Orcas Island, or Jefferson Cty Intl, and even KBVS is pretty much OK, even with most options on. I've tried about every suggestion I've seen on the forums, but like Howard and the B55, it's just one of those things, I guess. Scott

Paul Hi Paul-I sold my Debonair in 2005 or so and moved on to a Baron which is done luckily in great detail/accuracy by Milviz with their B55 (n7345r) which I sold in 2011. There is no fsx version of the Debonair and things just moved past my expertise but luckily for me and others Milviz decided to create the b55 for the sim. Yes those were exciting days in the simming world- I hope there will be more for the future. For a variety of reasons I haven't flown rw in 6 months-and the sim has become an important substitute! Scott I know Scott, Anacortes is historically a pretty heavy airport, not helped by the closeness of Skagit regional. In fact it resides, like many of the PNW airports, in what I call the Seattle Triangle! Even in FSX default scenery the Seattle scenery is notoriously poor on frames. The other thing too, is that while all of Orbx's sceneries are among, if not, the best available IMO, many of them are developed by different scenery designers. So while Bill Womack will develop one scenery Russ White will develop another, each person having their own way of doing things. So this is why some airports run smoother and are better on frames than others. Either way though, I love Orbx sceneries and cannot wait for the release of their UK series, which if you're interested, is ready for release very soon, so watch this space as they say. In fact some screenies will be available on their forum soon. BTW: I like using a heavy scenery for my default test scenario as it allows me to really see what a particular aircraft will be like under pressure. Since they say confession is good for the soul, however, I must confess to being terribly North American centric in my flying. I bought New Zealand South Island shortly after it released and I've still yet to install it. I know, I know... I am anxiously awaiting Southern AK and Northern CA, though and am at minimum intrigued to see what they'll do with the UK. Scott
