Carenado, what's my problem?

Featured Replies

The FDE dev for the latest Carenado planes and the ones from Milviz is the same guy, Bernt Stolle.

Which of the latest Carenado planes do you count as the 'latest'?

I understand the frustration expressed here completely. Carenado planes have so many bugs... I mean right out of the box, in your face bugs. BUT:

They have the best model graphics bar none.. and they ARE getting better with under the hood mechanics. Three weeks ago, I sat in a real Piper Meridian. My first thought was "Wow! Carenado got this spot on!" (Jetprop is a older Meridian, even though the panel had 2012 G1000 avionics, the construction of the cockpit is still the same).

I have to disagree with the Baron 58. With the Bstoll FDE, the plane is a joy. One of their best frankly.

My personal frustration is that it seems no one is making new glass panel GA aircraft I want to fly. Namely, a Baron G58, or a TBM 850... and because I've been in one recently, a new Seneca V. How about a Piper Matrix and Mirage? Planes you or I can fly today in real life... not some giant liner that is totally un-realistic. Carenado is the only game in town for this type of plane it seems. I get the quality aspect from a customers point of view. But in a small market, if I want a TBM 850, I'm gonna have to put up with Carenado's customer beta testing... because RealAir wont do glass, PMDG is stuck on Airliners, and everyone else is stuck in the 60's and 70's.I'd like to add; I will pay for it. To all the manufactures I say: Build me a quality aircraft I just described, and I will have NO PROBLEM paying upwards of a 100 bucks for it. Part of Carenado's problem is that 30-40 dollar range target. Screw that. Build a blow your mind aircraft, and "they will come".

Hi

I find it hard to believe that Carenado could make high quality glass even if they could charge $100.

I agree with you about wanting to see some more glass in GA but I dont think Carenado can do it. I too would gladly pay that much for an amazing addon but it doesn't mean it would be made.

The only choice for high quality glass in GA is the Flight 1 182 and that one is only $40. ( the Reality XP 430/530 could be considered glass too I suppose)

The Socata TBM850 is one of my favorite planes, I just wish I could put the F1 G1000 in it. But since I can't I probably won't be getting the Carenado TBM.

Bernt Stolle Carenado FSX FDEs (just from memory).

  • C90
  • JetProp
  • Bonanza A36
  • Bonanza F33 and V-tail (via optional patch)
  • C185 (via optional patch)
  • C337
  • C208 (via optional patch)
  • Alabeo Extra300

Another dev with his FDEs is Milviz (C310, B55, T-38A).

Here's a place where Bernt listed the airplanes he had done up to July of this year...

I guess the real C90 must also feel like a bus

With wings!

Not sure about 2012-13 model year Kings feeling like a bus, as they have the latest Pratts (-135a). I believe the Carenado is using the -21's

I agree with you about wanting to see some more glass in GA but I dont think Carenado can do it.

Well, I would add "not so far" to that. I'll give em the benefit of the doubt. I think everyone agrees they are the kings of graphics now... compare that with an older plane of theirs, the Seneca II... it's like two different companies when you compare that to the new cessena.

I will say they are on the right path.

OT, but related: I've seen/read that FSX isn't able to use all the cores and memory of newer computers. I wonder if a developer could build a plane, but have the G1000 as an "addon" running on those unused cores, and tied into the plane some how.... Have the graphics interface in the plane, but the G1000 outside of FSX. Does that make sense? I ask because the G is so deep, I imagine it's difficult/impossible to model it all anyway. As I posted somewhere else, a super FSX G1000 could have "safe taxi" and airport plates, SIDS/STARS, etc.

OP - You're too picky like me hehe. We want beautiful graphics, superb fde, and realistic avionics in an affordable package lol.

My favorite plane, the Realair Legacy, has all that... but to technical I spent about $140 for it lol... RXP 430W, 530W, and the lancair itself...

LOL, I am too picky Ryan, I know. It's been the bain of my life, always stretching for perfection. Luckily there are some devs out there who produce aircraft that IMO are just about as perfect as you can get, but of course as we all know, there are more than a few who do not quite make it. I suppose it depends on your kind of personality and whether you're happy to compromise or you try to pursue aircraft as close as possible to perfection. We can never get to pure perfection but to try and get as close as possible is a trait I think many of us share. IMO some of the great aircraft that have already been mentioned IMO are just about as perfect as you can get, I'm thinking in particular about the PMDG NGX, the Realair Lancair, A2A cub and the likes, this of course is only my opinion and one which some may not agree. But yes, you are right, being too picky can be a pain in the arse

the C208 with Reality Xp GPS, weather radar, and the option FDE from the Carenado download section is a work of art. Perfection. I just wish there were more repaints out there

I downloaded the Milviz C310 yesterday and got to take it up for a brief flight before I had to leave. Very impressed with its flight characteristics. I think Bernt is a master at getting a sim plane to feel 'weighty'.

I will be interested to hear your opinion.

Is the RXP integration good? I only have 1x430.

Thanks

Hi Glenn, mmmm... well, contrary to what everyone has said about the frames, certainly on my system they are appalling! My test scenario is at Orbx Anacortes airfield. Autogen set at very dense... with the Realair Duke, both piston and turbine and I usually get 26/27 fps, with the realair Lancair I get about 24/25. BUT, with the MilViz B55 I am getting a bloody awful 21/22!!??? Why is this? I have no idea. I am completely at a loss. We all know each system is different, but I'm astounded at the difference between the Duke and the B55...
