August 25, 201213 yr I, recently, installed the great MK studios EPWA and after landing and clearing the runway, the taxiway, runway and the ramp started to disappear around the plane as I taxied all the way to the gate. Now, this, also, happened with FS Dreamteam's KDFW once at night. I tried searching the net and I didn't a solution, except that Imaginsim's KCLT and KIAD do have the same problem. I would appreciate it if some one could help here. Naif Almazroa My Youtube channel: https://www.youtube.com/user/Youmou0205
August 25, 201213 yr That sounds like a "Mesh" problem, Where there is a conflict between the default ground height, and the new scenery ground height. Sometimes the default ground bleeds through, when viewed from the Cockpit. In some of my scenery, the runway immediately ahead of me disappears, and is replaced with the default grass, as I progress! In my case I just put up with it, as it only affects the area immediately around me, viewed from within the Cockpit. External views are not affected. Permanent cure?....I don't know. Paul...FS 2004... :Bug: ...!
August 25, 201213 yr Moderator I also have this problem with another FSDT airport - KJFK. I've moved it up to 2nd on the scenery list (behind AES) but still it persists. Bit disappointing for commercial scenery. :( Ray (Cheshire, England). August 25, 201213 yr Moderator It's frustrating but at least it doesn't crash FS9. Probably down to texture settings in FS9.CFG. Ray (Cheshire, England). Bit disappointing for commercial scenery. :( I don't think it's anything to do with the actual scenery - many of us use those sceneries with no problems. It's almost certainly a conflict with something else you have installed. Usual culprits - addon mesh. Or possibly duplicate textures or AFCADs. But sometimes it can be totally random - a scenery somewhere else clashes with something you'd think are completely unrelated. FSDT are very aggressive in addressing any issues with their sceneries when they are released - if it was a problem they could fix, they would long ago have done itCheers and good luck with finding the culprit - I know the frustration of trying to fix issues like this, believe me Ian
August 25, 201213 yr Moderator You're probably right Ian but I lack the willpower to do the required detective work. In that area I only have the freeware Boston, a very old KIAD and FSGlobal, also very old. I keep a check on duplicate AFCADs so it certainly won't be KJFK itself. I'll just live with it... probably. August 25, 201213 yr I keep a check on duplicate AFCADs so it certainly won't be KJFK itself I am curious to know if you have ever edited the Afcad for that airport and/or are using one that did not come with the original package. Rolling textures is most always a conflict between the Afcad elevation and the scenery object elevations. I can't see how mesh can have an effect as this happens at airports where the elevation is dictated by flattens that override the mesh. But I could be wrong. regards, Joe The best gift you can give your children is your time.
August 25, 201213 yr Moderator I am curious to know if you have ever edited the Afcad for that airport and/or are using one that did not come with the original package. Pretty sure I haven't. There is the outside possibility I could have used a 3rd party with enhanced parking gates. I'll check tomorrow but it's unlikely. I also get it at Milan Malpensa with the free Italian scenery of several years ago. With high ground to the north that could be mesh related. I've lived with these for so long I just accept it. I wouldn't have posted but this thread caught my eye. Ray (Cheshire, England). August 25, 201213 yr I also get it at Milan Malpensa with the free Italian scenery of several years ago Do you have the ISD LIMC Service Pack which was released later, which takes care of the problem? If not, you can download and correctly install (readme inside) one of the collective LIMC versions. I guess this is one of them: http://library.avsim...ftp&DLID=146763

I'm not sure it's a matter of "lacking willpower" - at least in my case, it's usually a lack of "won't" power, as in "I won't do anything else until I fix this problem, no matter how trivial it is!" For some bizarre reason, I seem to be unable to enjoy FS9 unless I'm convinced I've done everything possible to tweak it, fix it and enhance it. So I admire your maturity mate!

August 25, 201213 yr Moderator Rafal, I'm also sure I applied that pack but it was a long time ago. I shall have to check. Thanks for the link. Ian, I used to be manic about having everything running tickety boo but once I solved a mysterious crash I used to suffer NW of Seattle I convinced myself that providing FS was stable I would leave it at that. Let's face it. The last few years have been idealic for FS9 with more processor power than we know what to do with! I'll continue to enjoy that until I switch to FSX and the hand-wringing starts all over again! Ray (Cheshire, England). August 26, 201213 yr One "trick" to overcome the problem of airport elevation vs mesh elevation is to place a duplicate (or stripped down) copy of the airport afcad into the Scenery/World/Scenery folder. It appears this reinforces the scenery elevation over the mesh. And, if it doesn't work, well it's an easy job to delete the duplicate afcad.

See my recent post on missing trees - have been unable to do anything else until I managed to sort it, even though FS9 was perfectly flyable!! BTW I would also agree with the advice regarding searching for duplicate AFCADS under these circumstances - I commonly find this is the reason for this sort of problem occurring. Bill
