That is a lot of pixels!

I hope for a better 3d experience first!

Now just to convince the wife we've too much saved for a rainy day already, and it's time to splurge out...

Sheesh, in the last five years we've seen Plasma, LCD, LED, HD, 3D and as if that isn't enough, now they've developed something else to try and sell us!

Personally I'd hope for a better TV experience. Much of what gets broadcast is drivel salami-sliced by adverts, and wouldn't be improved with ultra-high definition. Sports fans (I'm not) would appreciate it, I guess.

I tend to listen to radio more than watch TV.

Neither do I. Most of the stuff I watch has either been edited for no commercials or I watch it on the DVR I have on the mainland. The condo I have in Hawaii has free cable but I think the only thing I've watched on it has been the Olympics or to catch some local news.

Here 50% of TV viewing is advertising!

That's bad. It's around 33% in UK (apart from the BBC). It's like trying to read a novel where every third page is adverts, that you're obliged to read through.

I understand the commercial pressures driving this, but I don't have to like it :Phbbbt:

Geez! Here I am stuck with a measly 32 inch LCD. I feel really underprivileged!

Seems to me that a lot of the broadcast networks and advertisers around the world get a certain kind of joy from treating their audience like they are drooling idiots that must be spoon fed some mind numbing content as if they are the Monty Python's Flying Circus asylum type characters. Me, . . . . some sports, some movies. I'm lucky, we have satellite so I can avoid the BS stuff most of the time. I got a second wide screen and receiver and put them where the wife can drool all she wants without causing me any cerebral damage. Big%20Grin.gif

I have Sky which charge more and more for less and less and ask for a minimum of 12 months to cancel the contract. It seems pointless to spend so much money on a HD 3D TV just to be able to watch boring publicity ocassionaly interrupted by the19,427th repeat of a vaguely interesting programme rarely in British English

Wouldn't you rather go back to Baird's mechanical tv?
