I was just reading earlier a thread in the X-Plane forum here where the OP was praising the simplicity of XP10's installation and how it's addons have no online licence activations (hitherto at least) or the likes of which are the norm for FSX. Most of the posts that followed were in agreement with the OP, with a few observing that as XP10's popularity rises we will probably start to see the same security measures in XP addons.

 

However, it didn't take long for someone to post a drive-by flame of X-Plane and state the superiority of FSX and the usual "my sim is better than yours" argument began. The post was utterly unnecessary.

 

Is anyone else getting really bored with this sort of thing? It's not just happening at Avsim, it's happening on other sites as well - in fact I can think of one forum where the X-Plane section is pretty much dead because the moderator actively participates in X-Plane bashing!

 

We've only just got over the Flight bashing, and it wasn't that long ago that we had to put up with the silly FSX vs FS9 arguments. Do we really have to go through all of this again?

 

I recently purchased XP10 and am slowly getting my head around it. I'm keen to learn what I can about it but I'm finding it irksome and tiresome in the extreme that so many FSX users seem to find it necessary to drop into X-Plane forums to tell X-Plane users how poor and inferior their sim is compared to FSX. That's not to say X-Plane users aren't innocent of this sort of thing, but at the moment at least most of the "my sim is better than yours" juvenile rubbish is being directed at XP10.

 

If you don't like X-Plane, stay out of X-Plane forums. If you don't like MSFS, stay out of MSFS forums.

While it's simplistic in concept, it entails deeper thoughts than "just move along". People have an emotional attachment to their favorite game. When something comes along that they believe threatens their belief in their favorite game, they strike out at it.

 

Thus the XPers and FSXers and FS9ers pooh-poohed MS Flight. Thus the XP and FS crowd go and comment about P3D. Thus there is still sniping between the XP group and FS group. It's human nature. Petty IMO, but still a prevalent thought process in today's world.

Consumers love to justify their purchasing decisions and more often than not, the only way they can do so is by running down the other options.

 

It's not just MSFX vs Xplane. "Fan" "Kiddies" are abundant - PMDG, Orbx, Vatsim, Apple, Android, it's everywhere in life. Sadly it is often nothing more than "perceived" status.

Culturally humans are like that. We are passionate about the things we love. To me it is the same as listening to three rednecks argue over which is better, a Ford pick-up or a GMC pick-up or a Dodge pick-up truck. That argument has been around longer then Flight Sim and never goes away either.

That's how things work over the internet, you find flame, f@nb0ys and keyboard warriors wherever you go.

You shouldn't be feeding the trolls If that really bothers you.

It may be human nature, but I remain startled how nasty people can be. For some unknown reason I expected better in this community, which just goes to show my own naiveté.

 

Should we run out of sims, we can fight over Apple vs Microsoft, Intel vs Amd, and foam shaving cream vs Gel.

 

(I want to get on a Gel website so I can type in capitol letters FOAM FOREVER!!!)

I used to use the gel stuff that turned into foam....what does that make me?

 

Now I use one of those old fashioned round shaving cream bars that you apply with a brush. Best shave I've ever had.

I had a discussion with some friends about FS9 "full" x "naked" FSX, 3 years ago...

 

If you fly INSIDE the cockpit, looking the gauges and their needles just like a real pilot would,

then we can discuss something about SIMULATING the theory of flight...

 

if you fly looking for houses, birds and cars outside, then you should "play" a videogame...

all the quarrel about FSX x FS9 x XP x P3D is useless... it's up to you and your hardware!!

Lets just stop this petty argument right now, who's sim is better? MINE IS!!!
