iPhone 5 clone maker to sue Apple over, um, iPhone 5 patent?

Featured Replies

The silliness comes home to roost.   :(

A report suggests that GooPhone, the Hong Kong-based company that created an Android iPhone 5 knock-off, has patented the design in China and will aggressively protect it.

Wait, what!?

http://www.droid-life.com/2012/09/06/chinese-makers-of-goophone-intend-to-sue-apple-upon-release-of-iphone-5/

In a piece of news that is just too wild to believe, the makers of the new Goophone I5, an Android powered device that is in the shape of the upcoming iPhone 5, intends to sue Apple for patent infringement upon release of the iPhone 5 in China. Designed from leaked specs on the iPhone 5, the Goophone has already been patented in China and the company will do all it can to make sure Apple doesn’t steal any of their hard work. You’re kidding, right?

Anyone remember GooApple 3G? It was the original Android powered iPhone device that was actually pretty awesome. Either way, if this company actually intends to sue Apple, that case probably won’t last long. Apple’s lawyers would most likely have a field day with these copycats.

Are you absolutely sure? Apple has broke the copyright infringement in 2011. http://www.foxnews.com/scitech/2011/12/07/apple-not-allowed-to-call-ipad-ipad-in-china-court-rules/

Yes that is true. What I meant though was Apple has lots of resources and lots of power that will be hard to take on.

Apple are just p'd off that they don't now have the market share they used to. The latest iphone a good example of playing catchup with the market. As I said they want the market all to themselves they're greedy. The problem is their product is not up to it anymore.

More seriously, doesn't it concern you when people say that suing Apple is pointless because they have so many resources/power/whatever? That's not how the system is supposed to work. What happened?

Money and power combined to use all resources to protect the status quo.

Absolutely the way it should be is the winner is the one with the correct case. Apple are going to go downhill from now one the Iphone used to be the leader but know specification wise the S3 and other phones beat it hands down. There is also the many legal battles Apple are facing.
