September 19, 201213 yr As a way of encouraging energy conservation my local power company subsidised the cost of compact fluorescent bulbs with no limit on the number purchased. I was able to buy all I needed (plus about 20 years worth of replacements) for less than the cost of incandescent bulbs. So it was a win-win for me, got the energy savings without the initial investment penalty.
September 20, 201213 yr I think it is funny the power companies do that since it cuts into their profits. HECO, which is an evil power company in Hawaii, limits the amount of solar you can add because of them losing money. Chris Miller

September 20, 201213 yr Watch clubs start hooking these up wirelessly for programable light-shows. Something like this (one of my fav bands ever)
September 20, 201213 yr :Just Kidding: :LMAO: Its one of the first things I thought of, but figured most peoples homes will have a password protected WiFi if they have any sense, and the skill to hack those is fairly uncommon. (and not worth it, usually) But what I was really thinking of is all those "Automated homes of the future" where the lights turn on at the time you are usually home etc. All this growing ability to control just about anything wirelessly breaks the "specialized wiring barrier" that helped keep those fantasy's from becoming practical mainstream reality..... We are all connected..... To each other, biologically...... To the Earth, chemically...... To the rest of the Universe atomically.
