September 22, 201213 yr Hi all I'm thinking of upgrading my 24 inch Samsung monitor to a 32 inch 1080p Samsung or LG monitor. Is anyone else running a 32inch monitor ? I'm running my original 18 month old GTX 460 . Is there an actual correlation between the monitor size 'allowable' and the video card? Thanks Eric
September 22, 201213 yr I just hooke my computer into my highdef television (44 inches). If I had been thinking about it at the tiime, I would have gotten a larger television. There is no comparison between a monitor and a high def TV.
September 22, 201213 yr Hey Eric I’m currently running a 32” 1080p LG LED monitor, I’m currently experiencing no problems. In the beginning there were issues with programs like REX looking stretched like a bad install, but this was fixed by going into Control Panel\Appearance and Personalization\Display and setting the Dpi to 100% for some reason that was not the default setting It’s running off An ATI Radeon 7770 Card, so I reckon your GTX would have no problem Best of luck with your new screen Stephen Asus Z170 Deluxe, 32 GB DDR4 Dominator Platinum, i7 6700k mild overclock, GTX Titan ( Pascal ) Win10
September 22, 201213 yr There is no comparison between a monitor and a high def TV. True, except resolution. Dukebe60, If your looking for size then a TV is probably better suited for you, but if you are looking at resolution and more resolution then a high end monitor would be best suited. Tom "I just wanna tell you both: good luck. We're all counting on you."
September 22, 201213 yr Author Thanks all for your input. I am looking for a much bigger display which retains the current picture quality. As it turns out, the 32-inch which I'm considering is a TV with HDMI or monitor functionality. So I'm guessing I'll go for that. Good to know that I don't HAVE to upgrade my graphics card too. It's a decent card, and I'm very happy with it on my existing set-up. Many thanks

September 22, 201213 yr The problem with HD TVs is they display max 1920 * 1080 (16:9). My Samsung 24" can display 1920 * 1200 (16:10). If I were to go for 27 inch or up, I'd look for a monitor that can display 2560 * 1440. EDIT: You might want to keep in consideration how far you'll be sitting from the screen. 32" is pretty big if its right in front of you on your desk. If you think bigger is better, then go for a large TV. If you want better quality image, get a good 27" (2560 * 1440) monitor. They are quite a bit bigger coming from 24".

That is a valid point - both on size and resolution considerations. Thanks.
September 23, 201213 yr Its expensive, but you might want to consider the Dell 30" monitor. Its native resolution is 2560x1600. It also gives more vertical image as its ratio is 16:10 Good luck Frank Regards Frank Jones

I now many who run 40" and 46" TV's at 1920x1080 and they are quite happy. Just bought a 40" LED TV instead of my 27" monitor at 1920x1080. Michael Gadeberg
