September 23, 201213 yr I'm planning to get a PMDG long hauler because the NGX range is not long enough for longer routes. I was thinking which one? The 777 will come out propably this year (?) and the 747v.2 a few months after. The MD-11 is not my type of plane and i prefer a 747 over a t7. The old 747 is lower priced and has better performance but is older and has lower res textures. Should I wait for the 747v2 and t7 or just get the old 747? Thanks!
September 23, 201213 yr NGX range is not long enough for longer routes. You can always fly LAX-Europe and do a few fuel stops. Should I wait for the 747v2 and t7 or just get the old 747? I would go with the older 744. The updated version is a long way away. I think even though she may be old, I still take her out for a spin to clear the cobwebs. Kenny Lee"Keep climbing"
September 23, 201213 yr Just a heads up, better performance in the NGX to older products! You're better of waiting for the 777, that's if you want to fly it. If you want the 747 then get the current version as at this rate the 747v2 won't be out till maybe next year minimum. - Luke Pabari
September 23, 201213 yr Yeah, the old 744 does the job nicely; I fly it all the time. Have you also looked at the LDS 767 in case you like the 767? Its graphics are way older than the 744, but hey, it works fantastically. The systems are amazing. So if you don't mind old graphics and you just want a superbly simulated airliner, go for it. Or them. Your choice. Thanks, Kevin L
September 23, 201213 yr Author And I didn't mean that I wasn't interested in the trip7, it actually is one of my favourite aircraft, but I only like the 747 a BIT more than the 777. And also end year release would be good because December = my birthday + Christmas... So the question is that December or not?
September 23, 201213 yr I would also recommend the Level-D 767 mostly because it is not only a very well simulated airplane, there are no hopes for an update anytime in the near future (at least that I know of). The 747v2 will come out at some point either 2013 or even 2014, but the next updated 767 may not come until maybe 2020... But if you really want to a 747, I would go with the current one; it is still a great plane to fly. Best regards, happy flying, Wallace
September 24, 201213 yr So the question is that December or not? The answer to that is... it'll be released when it's done. Late 2012 is just tentative. If it turns out to be March 2013 or December 2016 (for example) then so be it. Kenny Lee"Keep climbing"
September 24, 201213 yr Shame the MD-11 isn't your type of plane. She really is a heck of a bird. With McPhat FedEx and UPS liveries she makes long haul a real treat. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD Daniel Fernandez
September 24, 201213 yr who says the 737 cant do long hauls. I will fly the upcoming CTP with the 737 from KPHL to EGLL. I've tried it twice - about 3000nm, 6-7 hours flight, leaves you with about 6t of fuel. I even entered mach .8 forr cruise speed. So get it i dont think that anybody who has bought the NGX regrets it... regards Regards, Chris Volle i7700k @ 4,7, 32gb ram, Win10, MSI GTX1070.
September 24, 201213 yr If you feel that you must stick to a single aircraft, I would recommend listening to your heart. I am a very dedicated B744 flyer of many years. I have already decided that I will go for the B744 v2 as soon as it is available. But, if its delivery date looks like slipping out, I may have to go to the 777 as a temporary measure. My danger then is that I might feel a stronger liking for the 777. Oh, dash it! I will probably end up with both aircraft. September 24, 201213 yr Author My rational vulcan logic says 777 but somehow I still feel like I'm missing a 747 shaped part... ....[PMDG] surprised everyone by announcing that the next version of their venerable B747, Version 2.0, will follow shortly thereafter. Both will be released within a month or two of each other. Just thinking... If it's spring 2013 I'm in!
September 25, 201213 yr The old 744X is still an amazing machine! It is my long haul aircraft of choice! My most favourite aircraft of all time is the 744. Even though she may seem older in comparison to the NGX for example, she is still a joy to fly. I agree with what everyone has said about the v2.0 being a LONG ways off still! Don't be afraid about the older graphics either - it is still marvelously well done! You will enjoy to fly the old Queen, no doubt about it! As already stated, the MD11 is a really nice airplane, and is a fair bit better than the B744 v1 in terms of efficiency, modelling quality and overall experience. Plus it's a seriously systems heavy simulation, lots to play with! Mark Adeane - NZWN
