January 9, 201313 yr Thank you for this wonderful tool! I always found it tedious to navigate through all the various menus in P3D to set up a flight, not to mention having to wait through the scenery loading procedure twice when not starting at the airport defined in the default flight. Of course it's very useful in FSX too because it's much quicker to use and better designed than the FSX setup screen. -
January 9, 201313 yr WOw this thing works great and saves a ton of time! One feature that I would really like is to be able to choose between starting P3D or P3D legacy. For some planes like the Realair Lancair Legacy, you have to run P3D Legacy Mode. If you're not familiar, legacy mode puts a dummy fsx.exe in the P3D folder, so Simlauncher would need to start the FSX.exe instead of the P3D.exe...
January 9, 201313 yr Hi Do_denver2 (a real name would be nice btw), What happens if you set the startup program in the preferences to ...\Prepar3D\fsx.exe ? thanks, Maarten Maarten Boelens ([m][a:][R][t][ʏ][n]) Developer of SimLauncherX
January 9, 201313 yr Can you? I thought it just asks for the path... At any rate, i d rather not change it each time. A switch would be great. Jeff
January 9, 201313 yr Hi Jeff (that sounds a lot better!), A simple switch is not feasable. However: I am working on a feature that will let you create multiple configurations. A configuration is then defined as a set of: (fsx.cfg, scenery.cfg, dll.xml, exe.xml, startup program and FTX region settings). So, once you have set up your configurations, switching between normal and legacy mode will be relatively easy. thanks, Maarten P.S.: I have just released 6.5 that fixes a problem where launching a flight when the sim was running did not work Maarten Boelens ([m][a:][R][t][ʏ][n]) Developer of SimLauncherX
January 10, 201313 yr I just realized when I got hope that yes, you can specify the .exe file. However since you have made everything so simple and easy, I was hoping not to have to manually change it each time. Your idea of a profiles sounds like the solution!
January 14, 201313 yr I have used SimLauncher in P3D from the very first version. Mr Maarten Boelens has done the community a great service, indeed a service that should have cost us a purchase price and yet it is free. I was one of those who was very irritated that P3D did not offer a launcher like FSX, now I really don't need one from them at all as Mr Boelens' launcher is better than the original FSX. And his commitment to improvement has taken me from v1.0 to 6.5 and counting.... Thank you sir for an astonishingly generous contribution to our sim community. KInd regards, Ian McPhail
January 15, 201313 yr +2 ,It is an excellent contribution to P3D. Ahmet Sanal "Time you enjoyed wasting, was not wasted"

January 16, 201313 yr Hi Congrats on a great piece of software, I have been using it with P3D since 1.8. I have found however that v6.6 has an extremelly long load time. There are 24500 airports in my system and v6.6 is taking 38 minutes to load them. I have deleted v6.6 and gone back to v4.8 and Simlauncher loads in seconds. If you try to stop Simlauncher with windows 7 task manager the program just restarts itself so you have to go through the whole loading sequence. I will try V5.7 next as I am sure by memory this version was Ok for me. I am using Windows7 64 bit with Kaspersky however the virus scanner is not effecting V6.6 as I have tried disabling it and the loads are still slow. Just thought you would like to know any problems , I will just use an earlier version for now. Just a note v7.0 is also slow at loading airports. Ken
January 16, 201313 yr Hi Ken, On my machine it takes 10 seconds, so 38 minutes is certainly not normal I have had several other people reporting slow startup times. They solved it by downloading and running the latest version (4.614) of makerwys.exe (this is recommended anyway since it gives you better positioning on the runways). Also try excluding the P3D folder from virus scanning. Let me now if that helps. In the mean time I will try to find out what I'm doing wrong with earlier versions of makerwys.exe. thanks, Maarten Maarten Boelens ([m][a:][R][t][ʏ][n]) Developer of SimLauncherX
January 17, 201313 yr Hi Maarten Thankyou for your quick response. You were perfectly correct, on checking MakeRwys I found that I was running 4.612 and not 4.614. Interestingly though is that on Peter Dowsons download page he is still showing 4.612 as the latest release but has changed the actual download to 4.614. Your program is fine with 4.614 so thanks again Ken
January 18, 201313 yr G'day Maarten, What have I done wrong please. This appeared after upgrade. Cheers, Mac Cheers, Mac
January 18, 201313 yr Hi Maarten, Just updated to 7.2 from 5.9 and wow! this just gets better and better!! Have LM been in touch yet? Your work could save them an awful lot of time and effort if they could be persuaded to incorporate this in their up and coming version 2. Alternatively they might consider recommending Simlauncher as an essential addon to compliment their core program. FYI, I've just noticed on the 'About SimLauncher' page that the 'r' is missing from 'Simlauncher' Best regards, Mike
