Do you know how I struggled to convert the weather app to display in degrees Celsius? How am I suppose to know you can 'right click' and a new option tab will show up.

Share your frustrations but this is one of the reasons why we have these forums to help out other members.

Hello

Why ?, could you not just reformat and install Win7 on the new machine

Sent you a PM please see my questions.

I still have a set of 3 x 1.44MB floppy disks with Win 3.1 if you are game for a laugh!

Call me old. I don't get your humour? I have an old laptop that still works with Win3.1....so what?

I am saying that I have a really good working FSX on my Win7. It ain't broke so I would only want to fix it if I knew that I could get much greater performance, which I doubt by using Win8. Prove it to me with some good bench marking tests and then I might switch.

A reinstall of Win8 would mean a complete reinstall of my FSX most likely which would take me more time than I would like to contemplate to get up and running again. My FSX measures in the terabytes. Yes mine is bigger than yours.

Not much different from any past operating system releases, really. When Vista came out my Epson Perfection 1240U scanner had no Vista driver, so I could no longer use it in Vista. I still believe there's no official Vista/Win7/Win8 driver for it. Luckily I still dual boot Windows XP. At least with your HP 1005 it sounds like HP is working on a Win8 driver to release in January.

Right! I have a separate (older) computer with XP in it. Running in that computer I have an HP printer, HP scanner and software for a Panasonic digital recorder that is not supported by Win7. I use that system to do some admin tasks that are still useful for me. Its older but its a goodie.

Not sure why anyone would have to prove anything to anyone here. If you want to switch, switch. If not, don't. It's really pretty straight forward.

I'm running 8 on my laptop and like it just fine so far. My motivation for putting it on my FSX system will likely coincide with an SSD purchase and just a general need to baseline things again. I've been running on this build for a while now and I'm approaching the need to rebuild anyway.

lol, like that one Efrain.

Just started trying out Windows 8 on my test system today to see what I think. Only have the OS installed and nothing else just to get an idea of the look and feel, but have it dual boot with Win 7 so I can easily use one or the other.

Some of it seems pretty nifty but it does take a bit of getting used to, Even simple tasks that we are so used to in Win7 require some patience and investigation to adapt to in Win8. Not sure whether I plan on making the move permanently or not yet.

Time will tell.

Let me know if you figure out how to get to the next photo with the photo app in full screen mode. Still scratching my head with that one.

Use your arrow keys or move your mouse on the right (or left) screen side, a little arrow will then come up.

Oh, and yes, you have then to click the arrow of course ... ^_^

Doesn't work if you are zoomed into one photo, only if you have multiple photos displayed at once.

can't say something else that it does work here, sorry.

Just tried it again.

But all in all this foto"app" isn't very useful (hope they patch it over the time)

Download Microsoft essentials Photogallery

I'm very surprised about this phot explorer. Simple with all features for fast fotto editing and sorting.

If you install this, make sure to click"customised" and select the stuff you want. Otherwise you get messenger etc.

FS1 and maybe even FS4, not sure

But sure thing FS1, and no fps problems, cause it aint got none -_-

Heck, why even buy a puter, get some plastic toy plane from a cereal box or something and you have the technology we used for real life ATC training a LONG time ago.

Damn, I miss those days of launching games such as Tie Fighter from DOS!
