Q about PMDG projected releases

Featured Replies

Someone in my VA shared this link in a thread: http://www.airdailyx...-billboard.html

How do these guys come up with these dates? I have never heard or seen PMDG mention dates so how can they make these projections? Is there any validity to them? I'm completely skeptical.

For December:

PMDG BBJ NGX expansion FSX

PMDG Cloudmaster FSX

For January:

PMDG B777 FSX

PMDG B-747 V.2 FSX

Our member happens to think there is some validity to these claims. Now, I have seen people go to great lengths in order to speculate release dates for PMDG projects. However, this, by a "professional source" just seems a little overboard. Thus I'm asking the above questions.

Well, if you always guess you sometimes guess right.. My cents goes to 777 before ngx BBJ expansion

and NOT in december

I think AirDailyX is guessing without bases.

AirDailyX does have more sources than people would like to believe. That being said, most of it is speculation and perhaps calculated assumptions based on previous releases, timeline of updates, etc.

They were bang on with FlyTampa Dubai though, if I remember correctly. If I were you, I'd take the news with a grain of salt so as not to disappoint yourself later on if things don't go as planned.

I think, we can't trust this source...

February 2013:

Gianni Aerosoft Austria Professional FSX

Gianni Aerosoft Salzburg 2012 (FSX)

absolutely not true! And maybe it is the same with the PMDG Add-ons

best regards

I would agree with those above that it's speculation. I'm fairly certain it's been released by staffers here that the BBJ expansion will NOT come prior to the T7 release, the DC6 release, or the 747 V2 release. I may be wrong here, but I think NGX work has been temporarily suspended (or back-burnered) for the time being while they focus on larger releases.

I think you're right. What will sell more: the 777 or the BBJ versions/military/ER (to a degree) of the NGX?

I was taught years ago that you should believe nothing you hear and only half of what you see.I personally wouldn't really believe anything about future releases if they did not come out of the mouth/hands of someone at PMDG. Just my two cents.

I have no expectations of a release date because I have never seen PMDG leak a date until something was solid. That being said I completely doubt the accuracy of AirDailyX. I was asking more for the purpose of ascertaining how AirDailyX could produce such speculation in the face of the fact that Robert has not released a date yet. I would expect them to be more professional as I alluded to in my first post.

Edward Smoker Sr.

Well since Rob himself said the NGX expansions are coming after the 777 I doubt it's even close. The only thing we could see before is the DC-6.

AirDailyX has been occasionally quite accurate. More importantly, it is very useful for learning about what new add-ons are in the works, especially for those who do not have the time to check and explore the web sites of various publishers. To me, it is not about having the exact release date (or even week). Even some developers are very poor at predictions.

Take, for example, the Airbus X Extended. It keeps on being pushed back on the Aerosoft web site. I was excited when I first checked the expected release date and it was 22 July 2012. Now the expected release date is in December, after being pushed back several times. Regardless, I think the FSL A320 will be more accurate.

Something on the internet isn't true? Shocking

This.

You should inform them PMDG already stated T7 and 747 2.0 will not be released together.

In essence, this guy does what most people do (openly or privately) - read about stuff, compare current development to prior development, take a best guess.

Sometimes it might be simple enough, notice how long it took from first pictures to release for the last product, and do the math.

Sometimes it is nobodys guess. Aerosoft has been battling this one major bug with their Airbus for two months now. Granted, they probably finished what would otherwise have been SP1 in the meantime, but the problem with plan drawing is still present. You just can not do estimates when something like this happens.

All of these idiots claimed the world would end, and were all wrong:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_dates_predicted_for_apocalyptic_events

A prediction is a prediction. Unless you're the one running the universe, you don't know.

Similarly, if you're not the company releasing the plane, you don't know. While your prediction may be more accurate than my fortune cookie, it's still not something to get excited over.
