November 19, 201213 yr We need a mini-review  Mini review, ok.. Its an aircraft produced by ''A2A''... Buy it. -The end - Regards Luke M
November 19, 201213 yr Agreed - I'm looking for some screen shots - I only see that cockpit one on their site. Click this link for their official screenshots thread, not many there yet but there will be oodles in the next few days I'm sure: http://www.a2asimula...hp?f=93&t=32497 As for a mini review (VERY mini), I have done a few circuits in it so far. You get 3 default repaints, a black/orange non-military scheme (looks like an air racer to me), Moonbeam McSwine, and Glamorous Gal. The cockpit is superbly modeled just like the military P-51, and there are new clicky sounds for all the new switches like the autopilot mode selector, pitch hold, all that good stuff. You also get some swanky night lighting. You have a standard cockpit light, UV lighting, and instrument UV lighting. I dunno if I'm saying that right, but basically you have the traditional FSX cockpit light, plus a soft UV light, plus instrument lights. It's just awesome, I can't even think of what else to say! If you liked the military P-51 but were not interested in the WWII-era avionics and the lack of autopilot, then you should love this. edit: It is a bummer though that they did not include RXP GPS support. I personally don't use it anyway so I don't mind, but I can see how this would be disappointing for RXP users.
November 19, 201213 yr A2A quality, but no luck on the RXP integration. I honestly can't understand what they were thinking, you wouldn't want to go "slumming" with a native FSX GPS based gauge in such a realistic aircraft.
November 19, 201213 yr I posted on their FB page a while back and they stated they were unable to contact JL from RXP for GNS430W integration. Still I don't think it would be hard for them to do... you basically take the 2D gauge of the RXP and make a 3D bezel for it with working buttons (either the way Baytower does it "rxpini" or the way RealAir does it). I realize I'm in the minority but I've really stopped buying planes unless they've got Navigraph or RXP support. November 19, 201213 yr wow, really. Thanks for the positive feedback. I asked for a mini-review not a nano level review. Bob I wouldn't get offended by Spook's post, I'm sure it was made light heartedly. And anyway, he's right. Like I said above, if you have the military P-51 then you know what to expect. This is basically that plane with autopilot and modern avionics. And it's actually really nice not having the gunsight in the way - visibility is MUCH better without it. One thing I forgot to add is that the 1.5 Accu-sim update contains some nice things as well (which you can get with the military version as well), for example I noticed they added a prop sound cone to the external views so you can hear that massive prop whirring away.

November 19, 201213 yr I realize I'm in the minority but I've really stopped buying planes unless they've got Navigraph or RXP support. I don't know how many of us there are, but you're certainly not alone in this. As this plane is kinda on the fringes of what I would buy anyway I'm not hugely disappointed, but with A2A branching into GA stuff "real soon now" I sure hope this is something they're able to revisit. I'm VERY interested in their Cherokee project, but without RXP integration it would be a tough sell. Scott
November 19, 201213 yr Ditto. November 20, 201213 yr Commercial Member Regarding RXP integration, we need to wait for Rob to respond to this one, and he's asleep atm. I do recall them discussing this using the 2d panel as a means. You may want to check this thread: http://www.a2asimulations.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=93&t=32513

November 20, 201213 yr I had a hard time keeping it level and in control. Seemed to bounce up and down and trying to correct made it worse. Lost control and went into an uncontrollable spin and crashed. I was surprised I could not bring it out of the spin as I have in other aircraft but everything in the cockpit went blank and I could see nothing. I suspect I had my throttles too wide open and it gets uncontrollable after a certain speed. To be fair, I have not read the manual. I also have my realism settings set to the highest levels too. The cockpit and exterior are fantastic. I think I'll be okay slowing it down and acting like a civilian instead of a hotrod....(and after reading the manual!). Best regards, Jim Jim Young | AVSIM Online! - Simming's Premier Resource! November 20, 201213 yr My first impressions in gettting into the VC was wow! I can see where my cooler doors are! and my electrics panel is visible! Cool! A GPS! Woah! 3 individual lights for tail, left and right gear! Sweet! NAV radios! Alright! An autopilot! Thanks A2A! Needless to say, I quite like the increase of just visible status indicators, like the ones I talked about above. I couldn't tell any flight model differences other than I could feel all the ammo and gun bay weight gone just by liftoff characteristics. Exterior is flawless, everything is great. I want to bring special attention to the HSI. It is perhaps the smoothest HSI I have ever seen. Scott, I don't know what you fellows did with her, but please use that HSI again. Can't say its for everyone, but it definitely should cover quite a part of the market interest.

It was sensitive before too but it seems even more so now, maybe because of the lighter weight like you said? I dunno. Roll rate seems fine, it's just hyper sensitive in the pitch axis. It only takes about 1/3rd the pitch travel in my joystick to put it into a spin. Anyway, for the RXP peeps there's actually a button right in the shift-3 pop up to turn the GPS into 2D, that way you can plug your RXP in (as far as I know anyway, I don't use RXP and not 100% familiar with how VC panels work.) I know it's not as good as having integrated 3D knobs/buttons but it is something. See this post from Mike @ A2A: http://a2asimulation...t=32513#p246549 edit: It should be noted that this information is also right in the manual
