Not sure I follow, there's not meant to be, just the hectic progress during the current beta dev cycle. Beta 4 has been posted, beta 5 with low level targets to assist in the transition up to FL200 to follow.

But these are part of a beta trial and dev cycle that is aimed to squeeze the last drop out of FSX without causing some people's systems to go into mealt down.

I wouldn't normally post any information related to the beta dev cycle here of course, but I had to because of some reports, which would normally have been posted for all to follow within out GRIB Flight1 thread. That's where everyone taking part in the beta trials and tests are reporting.

Just in the process of testing the new assisted wind and temp targets now so we can release the beta and possibly new release today. Business as usual for us.

Regards

Stephen :-)

P.S.

As I mentioned above the beta dev cycle can and often is used to test ideas out, so I have been forced to keep this topic updated so people do not judge us on the results of running the beta software on their system. Reports of wind shifts had already be posted in Flight1 and the next beta was already being prepared after about 20 to 40 percent of people's systems could not cope with the very tight and finely spaced wind targets. This is just a beta run ....

Crikey there is a lot of emotion in some of these posts....my stomach is almost in knots at times

We don't mean to alarm you, just trying to keep you informed after being surprised on reports of the beta here. I have already included several mods on feedback from users, that's the way we work in the beta dev cycle. We test here in house, others test on their system. Of course the software works on our systems, but people have all sorts of systems with all sorts of Addons. So they report back ... This is not good for me ... And we change things.

Just don't panic if you try a beta and it does not work for you, just report it and it will be sorted.

Regards

Stephen :-)

New assisted climb targets and FSx control working well so far. Beta 5 looking good.

Hi Graham

Hope your stomach has recovered now. :-)

Of course I would have preferred to keep this in Flight1 but I must now continue the process so that people will not be too judgemental on just a problematic beta test. It also illustrates I hope that if you have a problem and report it then it is usually sorted without delay, most time in a matter of hours.

Best regards

Stephen

Beta 2.70.5 is available now. If you want to try it out please report your findings on our Flight1 forum.

I don't know how you do it. Answer 1000 of emails a day , posting on various forums and also keep developing this great software. I would be tearing my hair outby now. Do you guys ever sleep. Thanks for the best weather engine out there. Josh

Thanks for the kind words, but I should inform you I haven't got any hair left, it has all been torn out ... well that is my excuse anyway.

Stephen

P.S. We've reached a nice stopping point with 2.70.6, ready to continue with implementing the lower wind targets to nurse FSX into the air and up to the main GRIB arena at FL200 upwards. The saga will continue, hopefully after a bit of a rest bite. :-)

Whoever requested the Manual Ordering of Camera Views, its arrived in the form of Beta Version 2.70.7. :good:

I would also advise non-beta users to upgrade to the latest Release Version 2.70.6 which includes the improved 'friendly GRIB winds' option along with a small fix that now makes sure your specified Destination and Alternate METARs are no more than 15 minutes out of date when you land.

Bets regards to you all,

Stephen

General advice to all users ...

First please upgrade to Release Version 2.70.6 if you haven't already done so. We have also just posted two new betas on our website (today) ready for when you get your head around the camera editing ...

OpusFSX Beta Version 2.70.7 introduces the Manual Ordering of Camera Views using up and down arrow keys within the Select Camera View dialog.

OpusFSX Beta Version 2.70.8 changes all distances, apart from visibility, within the weather report windows which are now displayed in both km and nautical miles (nm). Previously they were all displayed in km and statute miles. The LWE also ensures the METARs are no more than 5 minutes out of date for your specified Destination and Alternate airfields. Finally, this beta includes the initial prototype of the 'Bump Aircraft' DHM option which when airborne will bump the aircraft in unison with the turbulent motions. The Turbulent Motion or Turbulent Bump options must be enabled for the effects to be seen.

Best Regards

I think that just about address every negative comment, rant and rave posted on this forum. We have now greatly reduced the chance of any wind shifts above FL200 with the GRIB forecast data (we actually get none at all), and soon we will be extending these controls to cover all lower altitudes.

Furthermore, as you can see from the above frequency of updates and level of support; If you encounter a problem of any sort, or any sort of weather anomaly, especially when testing a beta release, please, please, BEFORE having a rant and a rave, report the problem in the normal manner on our Flight1 Support Forum. You will find that most problems can be rectified in a matter of days if not hours !

Lol, cut them Opus devs some slack, will ya?

Thanks,

OMG, the development cycle is going with such a speed, I hardly keep up anymore. Last week I dowloaded the latest cycle, and now we are a couple of cycles further! Nevermind, keep up the good work Opus, and thanks for the fantastic addon, I'm enjoying it!

@ Omni

If you run OpusFSX minimised then it will remember and run in this mode next time.

@ DrumCode

I'm sure we will get around to doing videos eventually but I actually find easier to go through the manuals slowly, you can get quickly lost in a video if you miss something. The videos would be useful for our non-english speaking customers though.

Cheryl

Ultimate would be to make it a DLL, so its integrated with FSX.
