December 13, 201213 yr That did it for me after actually looking close as a picture of someone's Inspector setup. Mine was at like 4 I think and I could use BP-0 like I thought I could. Set it to 1 and poof, gone. William Sequeira

December 13, 201213 yr Thanks Jim nice suggestion never changed that setting before seems like a nice change new install so need to spend more time actually flying. Rich Sennett
December 13, 201213 yr Using Kostas guide gave me great results, however, since switching to a 3GB video card I now get OOM errors galore so have switched on BP and they are not as problematic. I notice too that Nick N posted some more recent settings (April 2012), I pinched this from another recent thread here... http://www.simforums...1798_page3.html He is using [bUFFERPOOLS] UsePools=1 Poolsize=8388608 RejectThreshold=262144 And that seems to go against what many are saying here (mixing Usepools with Poolsize and Rejectthreshold). Has something changed since April?? Al Stiff
December 13, 201213 yr This is my settings for a long time, but I have a ATI card. BP=0 works best on Nvidia cards with NI. [bUFFERPOOLS] UsePools=1 PoolSize=8388608 // 4MB Default 4194304 RejectThreshold=524288 //524288, 262144, 126976, 98304 Dave
December 13, 201213 yr To all of you having spikes ... in Nvidia Inspector change Pre Render to 1 in place of 3 or default. It will most likely remedy you of the spikes. Wow! that did it for me! spikes completely gone, thanks! (Note: mine was set to application controlled by default) Real world CPL holder.

With setting UsePools to 1, this means that water effects can also be reduced, right? I will try this over the weekend.
December 13, 201213 yr My water setting is Low2X (4). I don't think reflections look right at higher settings MPO. FFTF=0.33 (default). Too low causes flashing textures. Dave
December 13, 201213 yr FSX tweaks are very unstable. For example, my FSX was running good with poolsize=0 , water high, and pre rendered frames set to 1, without any spikes with the nvidia last recommended driver (306,97) then i went to 310.7 driver and my game was full of spikes with the same settings, i get back to 306.97, i reset all settings/tweaks like it was before ... spikes were still there... So i am probably going to abandon Poolsize=0 for another tweak ...

I don't think lower water settings look too bad either. I used to use High 1X on my weaker Apple iMac, and became used to the look, though I probably prefer Low or Medium 2X just because they match complex airports and scenery better. I currently use FFTF = 0.15, but may have to raise it if I receive FTX England over the holidays.
December 13, 201213 yr Word Not Allowed has done miracles to my flight sim experience...his guide should be ladened with AVSIM gold awards if at all possible...that is all. Intel i7 10700K | Asus Maximus XII Hero | Asus TUF RTX 3090 | 32GB HyperX Fury 3200 DDR4 | 1TB Samsung M.2 (W11) | 2TB Samsung M.2 (MSFS2020) | Arctic Liquid Freezer II 280mm AIO | 43" Samsung Q90B | 27" Asus Monitor
December 14, 201213 yr I agree with you completly. You have a Nvidia card same as Word Not Allowed. NickN and Bojote have also made big contrabutions. Dave
