@Word Not Allowed: I surely do not hope you work as an instructor or teacher, god forbid, cause your temper and arrogance will surely get in the way of helping people!

Why do you post this tweakguide of yours?

To help, or to show off your EGO???

Why not post at the top of your guide:

1. PLS BE AWARE THAT I DONT USE AI TRAFFIC OR CARS OR BOATS, SO YOU WILL LIKELY HAVE OTHER RESULTS THAN ME

2. PLS BE AWARE THAT THIS GUIDE IS FOR NVIDIA GPU´S ONLY

Hope this helps some people, and maybe, just maybe The Word Not Allowed himself, but I doubt it...

This is your second post with this ID and all used it to insult and degrade a wonderful member of our community. I can assure you that your feelings are part of the minority and these types of posts are the ones that will get you banned from any forum where proper decorum is welcomed.

There's an old saying that "no good deed goes unpunished". I'm sure Srdan feels that way at times with his guide.

It's really quite simple. READ the guide. All of it. Understand it, then act based on that understanding. What seems to happen with so many guides is that people go through them and pick out a couple of config lines with no understanding of the reasoning behind them or the balances required, throw them in to an already modified .cfg, often containing conflicting settings and then wonder why things don't work.

I have a hard time understanding people bashing Mr. Kostic (or not understanding his frustration when asked the same questions again and again...) when the details are all there for those who take the time to read.

Just sayin'

You ever considered "Anger management classes" ? I often share Word Not Allowed's frustrations.

Guides are for the most part compiled, tested and published by knowledgable people who are kind enough to share that knowledge with others, so that maybe it will be of use and help in improving whatever the guide is refering to.

You take it with gratitude and hopefully it helps.

The choice is yours. Nobody is forcing you.

To the OP, check that max pre-rendered frames is set to 1 in Nvidia Inspector (as per Word Not Allowed's guide). Also try dropping water effects to high or mid 2X. p.s. I have managed to achieve a stable 30fps over Heathrow with FTX, REX, AI / road traffic, and maxed terrain sliders (without blurries) with my middle-of-the-road hardware setup, but it did require a methodical (read: painful) tweaking process, and where certain worlds had to collide

Hey Jose, frankly dear, I don´t give a damn!!

Been banned so many times here, for telling THE TRUTH - and people still eat the silly stuff the self proclaimed Guru´s here post, being it hardware, set-up, tweaking etc. - the quality of advise here is so low, and its so mindboggling that people actually use it, or they try to, and then come back with complaints, and only get p!ssed on by them Guru´s!

I don´t get it, why do you come back, you sheep?

Go elsewhere for quality advise, dont play around here in this stupid kindergarten!

Troll much? If you don't like it "here" than why are you posting "here" or wasting your time reading "here"?

sometimes I feel Poolsize=0 does not work so refer back to the poolsize=xxxx and the reject threshold with usepools=1 then again I go back to the poolsize=0, of course I have everything to max (no special effects / no bloom or flare / road and sea traffic is around 20% with air and airport traffic to 60%) and use the NL2000 scenery and the Grob 115 with FTX 152 and pull out a minimum of 17 fps with a max 32-34 , in the default KLAX and KJFK / KLGA areas the minimum is still 17 and towards the buildings I am getting 22s.

Every system will behave differently.

I'd suggest you take your own advice - bye!

Oh Lord...

It took me months to compile, test and retest various scenarios until I came with the solution - the guide. For me and for you. Free of charge and free to read. And then you don't read...

Without wanting to sound impolite now, do you think I write this on top of my guide for nothing?:

IMPORTANT: If you feel like going through this guide and set up my tweaks, I strongly suggest you start doing that on the clean FSX, meaning clean fsx.cfg, no mods like ShaderMod 3, no other tweaks, especially not tweaked FSX.cfg through Venetubo tool (not saying Venetubo is bad, only that this is a different approach).

Hi Word Not Allowed,

Apologies for writing that post ! I applied your tweaks on a clean config and indeed get an even a better result. I wanted to thank you for the time and the great contribution to the FSX community and hope I didn't get you to upset.

Kind Regards from Freezing Switzerland

Thanks to all the helpful posters especially Word Not Allowed

I was using an old printed guide from awhile back the new one

explains it in more detail. The nvidia changes did degrade the quality quite

A bit though visually although ran very smooth.

Unfortunately testing put on hold for a few days as the PC developed a fault

and has been collected by the supplier to be sorted :-(

Windows 11

And there are still the good-old NickN settings. I haven't done a side-by-side compare of fsx.cfg, but they seem very much like Word Not Allowed's I think.

I'd like to point everyones eyes over at the DX10 forum. A tremendous amount of progress has been made in DX10, to the point of being a whole new (and way better) Sim.

I've used your guide with my I980X OCed to 4.3 with a gtx480 running P3D and I have to say that I am absolutley pleased with the performance.

running P3D using the pmdg 737, FS2crew, ORBX PNW, MyTraffic3d, OpusFX, Spad andTrack IR5. I have all slider's at max, Cars and Boats 50%, both AI traffic at 70%

The only time I take a dip from 30fps is when landing at large airpoirts usually drop to about 23fps, anywhere else I get a steady 30fps and if I set fps to unlimited I get a smooth 50-60 while flying in the Orbx scenery.

I have yet to have a crash.

You have a great compilation of tweaks and thank you very much for sharing them, it is very much appreciated.

I have to fight with myself to not press shiftZ, old habits are hard to break ;)

For those of you on the fence, I would highly recomend P3D, for me the smoothness and the stability of the software is a no contest when compared to FSX.

To all of you having spikes ... in Nvidia Inspector change Pre Render to 1 in place of 3 or default. It will most likely remedy you of the spikes.
