Be Ware .. USA Roads with ALL ROADS = FPS hog

Featured Replies

Landed at LAX last night, and had the USA Roads displaying all roads, and even with an oc'ed GF 6800GT, the FPS was a nil 4fpsSo be ware!

So what are your FPS at the exact spot wihtout the roads program running??????? Does not sound very objective IMO.Best Wishes,[h4]Randy J. >So be ware!>Yes. Be aware of 100 other things that cause serious performance hit in FS9, not USA Roads however.Michael J.

i cannot say the same. i landed at LAX with all roads on at night and was nice-n-smooth. i see no frame difference. could be video card dependent tho...i'm running a ATI 9800Pro.chris

Especially in the LAX area!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Sincerely,Dennis D. Mullert

As FS9 will not place autogen buildings where there are roads (including USA Roads), many report an actual increase in FR's due to less autogen buildings being displayed. Your problem is more than likely something else.

I also fail to see how the roads addon would lower the framerate like that. Two possible causes:Autogen accumulation bug - trim down your terrain.cfg leaving only autogen Utility Lines and Bridges enabled and disable default.xml-Excessive AI traffic? AI is very heavy on the frames and there's lots of it at LAX, even with default traffic only

this thread title is VERY MISLEADING! I have USA Roads running with ALL ROADS and there's no noticable frame rate loss.

>>Autogen accumulation bug - trim down your terrain.cfg leaving only autogen Utility Lines and Bridges enabled and disable default.xmlCould you e-mail me with more detail on this? My terrain.cfg file is huge. I'd like to learn a little more about what and how. Thanks,[email protected]

Autogen and AI are the biggest frame-rate hitters, really doubt that USA roads is the cause. As an aside: I have my autogen off because the size from up high is clearly distorted. The trees are no where near that big at 2500 feet or even 1000 feet (unless they are all Sequoias or something) in fact it's hard to make out individual trees from any height. The buildings are also huge, there seems to be a scaling issue here.

Something is very wrong with your system (are the GF6800 drivers mature yet?) or FS install then - I noticed absolutely no hit in FPS at all from installing USA Roads on my system.Ryan

Strange.I had auto gen, dynamic scenery, both maxed in FS. Maybe that is what was causing it? There was no traffic, it was a multiplayer game.Ill look at my terrain.cfg file. Not sure what I'm looking for though.

Maybe I should post some of my cfg files, see where the problem is ...

Interesting comment about how USA Roads can actually improve framerates in some cases. This is because of less autogen scenery.I made note of this before, and it is interesting someone else thought of it also. The slow framerate likely has little to do with USA Roads, so is probably a conflict elsewhere. USA Roads has been remarkably framerate friendly.

Thanks,
