SweetFX and DX10 question

Featured Replies

Well so much for that. When you undock a window the framerates drop to 1.2 and then in full screen mode the undocked window does not show up. Same deal as ENB.

Okay I'm back, and almost embarassed by how easy that was..!

Downloaded and installed the sweetFX files from here (thanks NCooper): http://forums.guru3d...ad.php?t=368880

Downloaded an updated settings file from Post 9 in this thread: http://forum.avsim.n...x/#entry2505200 (SMAA off, HDR and Bloom on)

Updated some DX runtimes (thanks padolamap)

I've got to say changes in color and contrast are pretty spectacular, with no impact on performance.

Here are few screens with the processor on and off - now to tweak the effects to make them a bit more realistic

Could you please post the settings for that? It looks awesome

Thanks Dylan.

I like your settings..its now going to be my default. I have two other settings that I like but not for everyday use.

And yes... Sweet FX does not work if you have any Windows undocked. IT drops to 1-2FPS.

Anyone got it to work around that?

Mine did the same thing... full screen kills the sim completely... BUT... I got it to work just fine in two screen/full screen mode and moved around popups to the second screem with zero

problems... THEN... It stopped working on full screen mode again a day later.. ?!?!?!?!?

Completely frustrating as this is an awesome add on with DX10 and Shade.. It's completely amazing. There has to be a way to get it to work in full screen/two monitors!!

Thanks, Dylan! If your SweetFX settings are good enough for Manny - they're good enough for me!

:drinks:

....and sorry, Hawk - I have no clue why Monitor resolution or size, or windowed/full screen should have any interaction with Sweet.

Hi Paul,

Good to see you are still around, giving help.

My FSX got completely screwed up, seemingly because of Sweet.

I've carried out a complete reinstall of FSX, and because I was so keen on Sweet, I installed it right after Acceleration, with no problem at all.

I've now added 41 different addons, with testing between each one.  Everything seems perfectly stable.

I've stuck to your Sweet settings throughout.  I'm delighted so far, and don't see any effect on fps, either windowoed or full screen on my three monitors.

It can't have been Sweet which caused my problem, but this time I have installed only the scenery I actually use, rather than being a "Collector", and trying to install the whole world!

Thanks for all your help in the past (I'll probably need more in the future!)  :Praying:

Best Wishes, Jim

That's great, Jim! Good to know that things are still well in the Land o' the Brave!

All the Best!

Strange, I just made the switch to DX10 for FSX, I previously had Sweetfx installed when I was using FSX in DX9 mode, and it worked fine. But after I made the switch to DX10, the colors are extremely washed out, and the preview window in FSX where you can see a shot of your plane in 360 degrees, well it moves very slow. Not sure what I'm doing wrong. So for the time being I completely removed sweetfx and now everything works fine again. Can someone help me, as I really want to be able to use it with FSX in DX10 mode.
