January 16, 201313 yr Commercial Member Fantastic, really! Modeling is superb and detaild, it will bring my pc on the knees. By the way, will they implement a smoke effect in the cabin? *cough* Current system: ASUS PRIME Z690-P D4, Intel 12900k, 32GB RAM @ 3600mhz, Zotac RTX 3090 Trinity, M2 SSD, Oculus Quest 2.
January 17, 201313 yr I really wish addon developers would make the detailed interiors/wing flex/etc option.. I generally stay in the cockpit.. if i cant see it from the cockpit, or spot plane view, im not really interested.. maybe im missing the point of FLIGHT Simulator. John ---
January 17, 201313 yr Commercial Member If QW doesn't include disable cabin option, it is a fail from my point of view. Also, modeling such a detalied cabin is a waste of time imho, better to spend resources on cockpit systems, and optimising perfomance. January 17, 201313 yr Looks very impressive, but at the same time, might as well be a polished xxxxx... We don't fly from the back seat, although I'm sure on every real world flight there are many back seat drivers... I'd be more interested in knowing what documentation/manuals it comes with?? You would be better off spending time making the things we use and want, nicer, than fannying about with the things none of us are going to look at. Do you look in the boot whilst driving your car? Could have spent the time proof-reading the manual for errors. Fantastic quality, but focused in the wrong direction.. Richard... January 17, 201313 yr Taken directly from Jacob Kubique (Dev team) in the QW forum I decided to build the Virtual Cabin, because I wanted to add something special and different to the project. I have built the Cabin in such a way that it uses very little resources and there is no compromise on texture detail. Frame rates are actually quite smooth and stable. January 17, 201313 yr Nice detail and sharpness! Hopefully the clarity will be preserved even after textures are added. Are those curved things the new reading lights? I would imagine that they would break easily due to accidental bumps, falling / inappropriate placement of carry-on items, unintentionally falling asleep on them, etc.
January 17, 201313 yr Commercial Member Guys, please realize that high poly models don't affect performance, it's the drawcall count. If they use a lot of materials/textures, performance will be bad, but if they optimize like crazy, performance won't be that bad. Brandon Filer

January 17, 201313 yr but if they optimize like crazy, performance won't be that bad. So its like building a Rolls Royce, then tearing all the interior out to make it go faster? Wouldn't you rather they didn't build stuff most wont use, and not have to then spend even more time "optimising the living daylights out of it so that performance "isn't that bad", and instead, build the sim, and allow the resources to be used to actually fly it really well instead? From what I've seen and read, QW stuff is excellent anyway.. This "Extra polish" should then at least be "optional" so it can be switched off/disabled to spare our PC resources for the actual flying surely? Without the extra "Abracadabra", wouldn't it be better performing for a wider audience of the not-so-mega computer owners? Richard... Amateur Pilot and UK Web Hosting Guru 🙂
January 17, 201313 yr I like the idea of having the full aircraft. An aircraft is more than just a cockpit. I enjoy flying the cockpit just like anyone, but once I get up to cruise altitude, sometimes I like to jump back into the cabin and get passenger "feel". Obviously there are many others who enjoy having the full aircraft simulated. I look forward to trying this 787 out. Robert Yunque
January 17, 201313 yr That sure looks nice! By the way, will they implement a smoke effect in the cabin? How about batteries catching fire and bursting windows, as random failures? Florian
January 17, 201313 yr Commercial Member CaptainSim *cough* More like Wilco, I have never had any serious FPS problems or anything else with CS aircraft, however with Wilco 737 Evolution I got loads of texture loading problems after some view switching midflight and similar stuff, their planes seem to be mostly horrible optimized. I think this is good idea from QW, I hope the 787 won't be smoking anymore when this one is released.
January 17, 201313 yr I personally am very happy there will be a virtual cabin. An add-on is incomplete with out one in my opinion And yes I will use the cabin just as much as I will use the flight deck. Regards; Fritz
