You are attempting to use an out of date link. Hover on the CONTENT tab at the top of this page, and then click on the bottom link. Everybody; please make sure you are not attempting to get the H&S guide via that old link.

Thanks Tom,

I found the "fsx_guide.pdf" in my downloads folder, downloaded at  03/03/2013.

Same problem here.

Thanks for your help !

Not sure who's the original author of the quoted sentence but it just works, thanks!

So, in the topic starting message just plain wrong link to the document. The correct (for this fora engine) link at this moment would be: http://forum.avsim.net/files/file/1-fsx-hardware-software-guide/

Hey Yoshke, thanks for the links. It's work now, and Content tab too...

Downloaded !!

Thank you !

Having same issues even to this late date.  I did hover over the Content and then was able to download the FSX Configuration Guide as well as the CTD guide.

To be clear the FSX Config Guide is the correct file?

Respectfully,

Jet

Which Guide are you looking for, Jet?

Whoops. I guess I was clear as mud. LoL. I was looking for the FSX

configuration guide. I went ahead and downloaded it from the content drop-down menu up above. I'm coming back to flight simulator after about a year hiatus. And I remember this guy being excellent.

I'm running a Phenom II Black OC to 4.1 or so and followed the guide to a T!!

At KTEB Heavy Storms 20 percent traffic and a puny little Ge Force 450 GTS I was able to

Go from 15 fps to 30/35 fps in flight! Just by using a rebuilt New FSX.cfg and the guide.

My plane is the ES Cit X 2.0.

Just proved to me it's all about the processor, and less is way more when comes to tweaks.

Nice to have the guide be simple yet provide enough info to give a feel for the modification.

Thanks for the guide!

Respectfully,

Jet

OK.. I authored the Software & Hardware Guide for FSX, which is still posted and is the title of this thread. I think the gentleman responsible for the FSX Basic Configuration Guide is our friend Jim Young, Director and FSX Moderator - ok!

I reckon you'll get decent info out of either of the guides.

All the Best,

pj

You Bet!  Thanks Paul.

I am still not able to download this fsx software and hardware guide, getting "do not have permission to access it" on link in Yoske's post and all other links too. When I hover over content, I get "Interviews and articles of note" and then to the right of that, locheed P3D Interview, Interview with Joshua Howard, The AVSIM Hack of 2009, Avsim Investigation: Here We Go Again.  I would really like to have a look at this guide, so any help in this matter would be appreciated.

That link is outdated again, since it's been posted nearly a year ago. Please use the "Hot Spots" (on the right of every forum page), the "AVSIM Publications" tab at the top (those two should be linked to the current version at all times), or follow this link directly (as of today, 07/27/14 - this may change over time again!).

Thank you very much for the information and link. I assume the fsx software and hardware guide pdf was renamed/updated to Basic FSX / P3D Configuration Guide 2.0.0?
