Its not just AVSIM. Its the state of the American violent society of which it's become?

WOW, you must watch CNN 24/7 or MSNBC and drink their Kool-Aid too...

Probably no worse than the kool-aid served by Fox News, or?

Simmerhead - Making the virtual skies unsafe since 1987!

Interesting discussion. Here's a fact for you to chew on.. I have had my life threatened multiple times over the last 17 years. So have other staff. Only once were those threats to me from an American (he's still rattling his puny man sword around, as recently as last week, and is from Texas.. ). All the others were from outside the U.S. And all because we enforce our rules... Imagine. A flight simulation site.

Strange comment I must admit. I feel 100 times safer in America then I do here in Ireland. I think it's a matter of perspective.

I've also always felt completely safe in the USA. It's just a normal country to me. There are some criminals and some prisons exactly like every other country I've been to. I've only found Americans to be charming, welcoming people when I've been there. It's a lovely place to visit.

Over 10 years here and AVSIM is still my favourite FS site :-)

Holy cow! I would never had imagined that flight simming could be so dangerous... I simulate flight to avoid danger. :)

America is completely safe. The only time you should feel unsafe, is if you're walking around East Saint Louis, Harlem, South Side Chicago, etc.. spewing racial slurs. That just might make you unsafe.

entitlement + arrogance + spoiled + lack of discipline + bad genetics = stupid. And there is no cure for that except for the big bad REAL world outside the cloistered bedroom or family room that some of these folks live in 24 x 7 whose only life and persona exists because of communities like ours. There are some pretty pathetic folk out there needless to say. The good news? We have nearly 100,000 members. There are only a handful that fall into this category. It is events like that with our recent banning notice that encourages these folks to come out. And boy have they come out.

I like it when the members on here come to bat to give a different perspective on things. And yes I agree with the popular opinion, USA is very safe and a great place to visit. Now you guys are making me feel homesick...

I'm Dyslexic, what's an error to you is not to me

What if AVSIM became a subscription based forum.Im not talking allot of money but maybe 30 dollars for the year.It wouldn't be done as a source of revenue but a way to deter the crazies.

This is probably off topic but sort of fits.

It's not just the IP address your should try googling your name e.g.Bakern

It'll come up with every post you've ever made with that name in any forum Avsim or other.

I think you miss my point here, nothing about what is showing up or not, question was if i got banned or not...when changing my IP adress every day.

I most honestly and sincerely wish everyone would "think twice" before posting. I suspect the quality level of the posts made would rise considerably...

Crazies also have money, you know. Seems like you are trying to imply that only jobless, moneyless youngsters are thr crazies. And if it goes subscription based, then the sense of entitlement will go through the roof with some members. Being a cop, I get that all the time, the "I pay for your salary" comments.

I personally like AVSIM, if they want to record my possible hundreds of IP's then so be it, just remember there are millions of IP's and lots of people don't secure their net (even though tapping into this is illegal in the US), you can become anonymous even after a set of bans. This does not bother me, I have no intention on being banned, and my account here on AVSIM (outside the forums) has been here for many years and quite possibly more to come.

The only thing I don't necessarily like about AVSIM's forums is that some of the community can be exceptionally harsh and there are its fair share of trolls, but in retrospect what forum usually does not have this issue. Remember the 1st Amendment (for my fellow US Citizens) only protects us on the internet from government persecution not private, whom ever owns the website and makes the rules is technically "king" and can do what ever he/she pleases, don't like it, welcome to the internet.... enjoy your ban.

...the "I pay for your salary" comments.

...which is really ironic, coming as they do most often from folks who've probably not paid any taxes at all...

I agree totally with the entitlement part.

But in general crazies take the path of least resistance if its to much hassle to pay money to be a troll then they wouldn't be bothered.

And still if they do decide to sign up and be a pain on the forum,

well at least they'd be helping pay for site maintence
